Sika Anoa’i, a WWE Hall-of-Famer and the father of former WWE Champion Roman Reigns, has died at the age of 79.
In a statement, his cousin, Jahrus Anoa’i, broke the news to the wrestler’s fans around the world.
“It is with great sadness that I share the news of the passing of former Hall of Famer, Polaivao Leati Sika Anoa’i,” the statement said.
‘He passed away peacefully on June 25. Sika was a celebrated figure whose contributions and legacy have left an indelible mark.
“His memory will live on through his achievements and the many lives he touched.

“He was many things: a hard-working father, a caring brother, a supportive uncle and a proud grandfather.
“He was a dear friend to many, a loving family member whose warmth and kindness knew no bounds, and an inspiration to countless individuals.
“His legacy will continue to inspire and uplift generations to come, and remind us of the impact one person’s life can have on so many. Rest in love, Uncle Sika.”
Sika Anoa’i began his career in wrestling in 1973 and competed in several different territories before joining the WWE (formerly WWF) in 1980.
He won the WWF World Tag Team Title twice during his first stint (and three times total) with the company, competing as one half of The Wild Samoans alongside his brother Afa.
Sika alternated his career with the wrestling organization. He retired in the late 1980s and last competed in the WWE in 1988. In 2020, he appeared at WWE Hell in a Cell alongside his son Roman Reigns.
In addition to the WWF tag team title, Sika won the tag team belts from ten other wrestling promotions.
Sika was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2007.
