The star said: “It’s very inspiring because America is very polarized right now, there’s a lot of resentment and fear of immigration.” [so it is great] to see this show where there are people from so many different places and they all shine, and Britain shines.’

The Great British Bake Off is judged by Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith and features 10 contestants who do challenges each week in a bid to become champion.

Elsewhere, Meryl Streep, 73, has also admitted her penchant for British television, which includes Homes Under the Hammer, Grand Designs and Come Dine With Me. JJ Abrams, director of The Force Awakens is a huge Downton Abbey fan, he even went to visit the set.

And Snoop Dogg loves Coronation Street while Will Smith is obsessed with EastEnders.

It comes after Sigourney appeared last week on the red carpet for the world premiere of her latest film, James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of the Water.

The actress, who is modeled after 87-year-old Dame Maggie Smith, has no plans to retire from acting just yet, as she has two more Avatar movies to make.

The film will be released on December 16 and the trailer begins with members of the Na’vi sitting on the backs of ikrans, flying pterodactyl-like beings that carry them above a beautiful waterfall.

Sam Worthington’s Jake Sully and Zoe Saldaña’s Neytiri take their children to another tribe in search of a safe haven as huge, human-operated mech suits trample through a forest.

Then you learn to ride a giant underwater eel. It emulates the scene from the first movie when Sam Worthington’s character is taught to ride an ikran.

Titles cut into picturesque landscape scenes refer to the film as “The Movie Event of a Generation”.

Sigourney, who was also in Doc Martin, spoke of her time in Cornwall filming in 2015.

He explained that the filming of the show was relaxed and that he immediately felt part of the Doc Martin ‘family’.

While in Cornwall, they went to a local pizzeria every week to take a quiz, which he said was fun.

Movie Role: The legendary actress will next appear in James Cameron’s highly anticipated film Avatar: The Way of the Water.
