Parramatta fans believe their side’s secret weapon this season is commentator Andrew Voss – and it’s been confirmed that he will call Friday night’s qualifying final against Penrith.

Unbelievably, the Eels have won all 10 of the games that Voss has called this season, so the Parramatta faithful consider him the lucky charm who could help them break their 36-year premiership drought.

The commentator has become such a good luck charm for the side that he has joked that his Foxtel colleague, Panthers legend Greg Alexander, could sabotage his chances of calling the game by poisoning him.

Parramatta fans believe veteran commentator Andrew Voss (pictured) is their lucky charm with their side winning every game he has called this year. Some have begged Fox Sports to have him call Friday night’s game against Penrith – and they’ve got their wish

Voss is aware that he has become ‘The Eels Whisperer’ this season and has no explanation for the bizarre coincidence

Diehard fans have been begging Fox Sports executive director Steve Crawley all week to assign Voss to the tantalising showdown at BlueBet Stadium in Penrith.

Eels fanatic Troy Warner wrote:  ‘Attention Mr Steve Crawley, as a massive Parramatta fan and member, Andrew Voss from your network has called 10 games this season and the Eels have won all of them.

‘I urge and plead with you that, when you release your commentary roster for this weekend, that Mr Andrew Voss is the caller on Friday night to keep our victory run going. He’s our lucky charm! Kind Regards, Troy from the Parra Cave.’

Voss has jokes that Panthers legend and colleague Greg Alexander may try to poison him

‘If you do the stats, Parramatta without me calling are 6-8 and with me calling, they are 10-0. It’s become a little uncanny,’ said Voss.

‘I think I’ve become the Eels Whisperer. I have no explanation for it, none whatsoever. I have no ties to Parramatta at all and never have but I have ended up a lucky charm for them so I apologise to all the other clubs.

‘I can confirm there hasn’t been any calls from [Eels coach] Brad Arthur asking me to address the team pre-match. I’m not 19th man at Parramatta. They haven’t sent me a scarf or coffee mug. I’m independent of anything blue and gold.

The Panthers were beaten just four times all season on their way to claiming the minor premiership, and the Eels own two of those victories over Ivan Cleary’s men – winning 22-20 in Round 9 and 34-10 in Round 20

‘Working with [Panthers legend] Greg Alexander [on SEN] and the Penrith rivalry, he’s been offering to make me a lot of coffee this week. I think he may be trying to spike my drink. I told him he can take first sip. I don’t trust him.’

Some Eels fans have been convinced of Voss’s ‘powers’ for a while.

One Twitter user commented: ‘I think the stat is about the same for last year too Vossy. We don’t lose many when you call our games.’

Another joked: ‘As long as you don’t call any other games, I’d be happy.’

After revealing he was likely to be calling the Eels-Panthers game, Voss said: ‘Sorry, Penrith.’

The Eels would love nothing better than to avenge their loss to the Panthers in last year’s semi-finals in a bruising encounter

Not all Penrith supporters are convinced of Voss’s juju in the commentary box, however.

‘Think they need more than Vossy to win,’ said one Panthers fan on Twitter.
