Startled witnesses described hearing a “loud bang” and seeing severed body parts strewn across the street after a man dressed in pajamas jumped from the roof of the 230-meter Deutsche Bank Center.
The victim was cut in half when he slammed into the Mandarin Oriental hotel’s marquee before hitting the busy Manhattan sidewalk outside the apartment complex where Jay-Z, Cynthia Nixon and Gisele owned apartments. He was pronounced dead on the spot.
Some witnesses said his arm was found next to blood-spattered scaffolding on the opposite side of the road.
A woman who lives in an apartment complex next to the hotel said residents could hear the marquee breaking from their living room.
“We just heard a loud bang, so we came out to see what had happened,” she told DailyMail.com.

A guest at the hotel said the crash was heard from the lobby, with residents rushing out to see what had happened to meet the gruesome scene of broken glass, blood and the victim’s dismembered body.
The man’s identity has not been released, but according to police sources, he is said to be between 30 and 40 years old.
He would not have been a guest at the hotel, which occupies the top 19 floors of the 55-story Deutsche Bank Center.
The man would have jumped to the roof at 9:06 p.m. on Thursday evening, police sources revealed.
“Video shows him walking into the hotel, then taking the elevator up, going to the roof and jumping off the roof,” NYPD spokesman Lieutenant Thomas Antonetti said.

The New York Police Department told DailyMail.com that the victim’s identity was not yet known and the investigation is ongoing.
