The gruesome accident so traumatized fairground veteran Brendan (pictured) that he has now quit after a lifetime on the rides.

A heartbroken fairground worker has quit his job of 20 years after witnessing the horrific roller coaster accident that has left a woman fighting for her life in a coma.

The shocking accident at the Melbourne Royal Show in September left fairground veteran Brendan Mogler so shaken that he quit the carnival business after a lifetime working in rides.

Mr. Mogler was driving the Rebel Coaster when he crashed into Shylah Rodden at 70 km/h while trying to retrieve his phone from under the tracks.

Ms Rodden, 26, suffered life-changing brain damage and severe injuries to her pelvis, arms, legs and back after the impact threw her 30 feet into the air.

He woke up from his medically induced coma last week, but his family revealed that he is still in serious condition and may never be able to speak again.

Ms Rodden’s family told Daily Mail Australia that the chances of Ms Rodden’s return to a normal life are slim to impossible.

Australians have since joined her with more than $20,000 donated to a Gofundme appeal to help pay her medical bills.

Mogler says that those who witnessed the accident, and had to deal with its devastating consequences, had their lives severely affected by it.

‘What about the emotional damage (done) to all the staff who were working on the roller coaster that day?’ the distraught father posted on Facebook Monday.

“After working on rides and roller coasters for the last 20 years, I will never work on another ride again.”

Online trolls have launched a savage attack on Shylah Rodden after she was awakened from a medically induced coma two months after she was hit by a roller coaster.

The Royal Melbourne Hospital has now moved Ms Rodden from intensive care to a general ward after waking her from a coma and says her condition has stabilized.

But although the hospital has reclassified Shylah’s status, her devastated family told Daily Mail Australia that they are still seriously concerned about her situation.

“She had suffered a severe traumatic brain injury, so if that’s what people think is stable, they’re wrong,” said Shylah’s younger sister, Caisha Rodden.

Just because she’s awake doesn’t mean she’s stable.

On the day she was beaten, Ms. Rodden was working at a friend’s booth at the show when the couple decided to go to some games during their break.

It is believed that he dropped his phone while on the roller coaster. Investigators believe he walked under the high-speed ride tracks to retrieve the device.

Shocking video of the incident appears to show Ms Rodden in the path of the roller coaster car before it crashed into her.

Online trolls pounced on the update on her condition and unleashed new torrents of hate on her after first attacking her when the tragic accident occurred.

Shocking comments cannot be published for legal reasons.

Others came to her defense, lashing out at the trolls for attacking Ms Rodden, who is now facing life-changing injuries.

“All the people with their negative and unnecessary assumptions and comments need help,” said one.

‘Nobody cares if their family and friends read them. Seriously, I’m sure you wouldn’t like it if it was someone you know.

‘I hope karma catches up with each of you…’

Another slammed: ‘We all get it – stupid of you to get your phone back while the trip was still going!

‘It’s been said a thousand times in every post about this story… But geez, does anyone have compassion?

He had a momentary lack of judgment and made a mistake that changed his life and the lives of his family forever. Extremely difficult situation to be in.

‘We all make mistakes. The lack of empathy from people amazes me.’

WorkSafe is investigating the circumstances behind the tragedy with the help of detectives from the Yarra Criminal Investigation Unit.

The investigation revealed that there were no technical problems with the roller coaster. The ride that hit her was reopened a few days after the incident.

Royal Melbourne Show said at the time: ‘The safety and well-being of our show visitors remains our number one priority.

‘Strict security protocols are maintained in accordance with Victorian WorkSafe standards.

“All attractions on the site have undergone strict compliance inspections and have passed all required safety documentation.”

Show management declined to comment on whether any new safety procedures had been put in place in the wake of the accident.

Shylah’s father told Daily Mail Australia in October that his daughter had suffered life-changing injuries.
