Apparently valuables are only ‘valuable’ to the extent that you can sell them in exchange for gold. But they are also useful for increasing your standing in each faction of the game.

Do you need to sell valuables in Dragon Age: The Veilguard?
In short, Yes, you need to sell your valuables Dragon Age: The Veil Guard. You get gold for every valuable asset you sell, and there is no other use for it. You can’t sell equipment or crafting materials, so don’t worry about accidentally selling something important.
So the question is not whether you should sell your valuables, but rather WHO where to sell your valuables. Selling valuables to a faction’s merchant increases that faction’s overall power, something you must do to ensure a positive outcome. The Veil Guard‘s last act. Improving a faction’s strength also unlocks new gear for their merchant.
Based on our tests, you gain +3 faction power for each item of value you sell to a given faction.
If all you care about is gold, sell your valuables to anyone. But if, for example, you really want to get the Lords of Fortune merchant to level three so you can unlock an ax upgrade for your companion Taash, make sure you save your valuables until you encounter the Lords of Fortune faction merchant.
Where to sell valuables in Dragon Age: The Veilguard
You can sell valuables at each faction’s merchant. Faction traders are marked by the armor-looking icon (shown in the screenshot above), and each faction’s traders are conveniently located near the starting area in each of the following regions:
- Gray Guards: In the Hossberg wetlands
- Shadow Dragons: In Docktown
- Antivan Crows: In Treviso
- Veil sweaters: In the Arlathan Forest
- Lords of Fortune: In the Hall of Valor
- Mourning look: In Necropolis Halls
However, keep in mind that your choice between helping Minrathous or Treviso will affect the merchants you can sell valuables to.
If you choose to save Minrathous, you will no longer have access to the Antivan Crows merchant. Conversely, if you choose to save Treviso, you will no longer have access to the Shadow Dragons merchant. Whatever city you are in not saving will lose 250 faction power.
With that in mind, before you commit to rescuing Minrathous or Treviso, sell as many valuables as possible to the Shadow Dragons or Antivan Crows merchant respectively. That way you can compensate for the blow you take against the strength of your faction.
