Star Wars Jedi: Survivor“S”Research TanalorrThe mission, which begins at the end of your first visit to Jedha, tasks you with checking out two locations: a research lab on Shattered moon and a private retreat of a Jedi (sounds nice). Koboh.
So, should you go to Shattered Moon first or go back to Koboh? You will eventually have to do both. And you unlock unique perks from each – your choice pretty much boils down to which one you want to do first. Let’s break it down.
Shattered Moon Research Lab first
The Shattered Moon portion of “Research Tanaloor” is a standalone mission that is mostly straightforward. The planet itself is one of them Jedi: survivor‘s smallest – less of a wide-open area like Koboh or Jedha, and more of a linear environment like Coruscant’s opening stage. You navigate through many platforming challenges and face off against two bosses. You can take out the whole thing in about an hour.
You also unlock the cross guard stance – a lightsaber stance that trades speed for increased attack power and defense capabilities. (Also visually, it resembles Kylo Ren’s hacked hilt from the sequel trilogy.) If you want that attitude sooner rather than later, you’d better visit Shattered Moon before embarking on your second visit to Koboh.
Koboh Jedi retreat first
The Koboh portion of “Research Tanalorr” is largely concerned with navigating a canyon full of lava and stone spires. You’ll need to solve the Devastated Settlement orb puzzle – a sprawling three-part brain-melter where you move giant orbs to power up laser beams – to get over it. Oh, and you’ll have to fight two bosses.
You will meet along the way Cay Vanda, an NPC and cantina patron who teaches you to hunt for bounties in exchange for blaster upgrades. (There are a total of 16 bounties Star Wars: Jedi Survivor.) You also get the Koboh sharpener power for BD-1. Its usefulness is limited to certain environmental puzzles on Koboh.
Whether you should do Shattered Moon or Koboh first depends largely on which upgrades you want sooner. I would recommend disabling the Shattered Moon part first. It’s a shorter mission. You will get a new lightsaber stance. In addition, there is So lots of other things to do on Koboh while you are there.
