Shopper slams Woolworths over disgraceful mix and match sign in Gold Coast store meat fridge

Woolworths took a beating after a customer spotted a ‘sneak’ detail in its meat department signage: ‘It’s absolutely disgraceful’

  • Sign above Woolies meat fridge advertises special
  • Only a handful of items were included in the deal

A concerned customer has let go of Woolworths after they noticed a ‘sneak’ detail on the supermarket’s meat display.

The customer said they believed all items in the meat fridge under a sign that read “Mix and match Any two for $15” were included in the deal.

However, it was only seven items with their own special label that could be mixed and matched.

The Queensland customer was outraged by the ‘misleading’ display labeling it ‘absolutely disgraceful’.

A spokesperson for Woolworths responded to the customer’s complaint by saying that while the products in the deal are clearly marked, they will examine the signage.

A customer has berated Woolworths for a display on one of its meat fridges. A sign says customers can buy two items for $15, but only a handful of products are included in the deal

‘Gotta love Woolworths and their sneaky signage. I’m not thinking about mixing and matching everything here anymore when in fact it’s just a small handful of items all mixed in,” said the customer in a tweet.

‘Absolutely disgraceful..’

They shared an image of a full meat fridge in a Gold Coast store with a mix and match sign above it that said customers could buy “any two” items for $15.

However, a closer look reveals that only seven of the 18 items in the fridge are included in the special, as they have the mix-and-match label.

One man sympathized with the customer’s frustration.

Principles of psychological warfare are everywhere as the world pie shrinks and everyone tries to keep up with their portion. It gets much worse and it doesn’t get better. We have passed the tipping point.’

Woolworths responded to the customer’s complaint, asking which store they visited so they could investigate the issue.

That said a spokesman 7NEWS.com.au: ‘Each of the products included in the mix and match is clearly marked, but we note customer concerns and we will follow up’.
