CHEYENNE, Wyo.– One man was killed and two others were injured in a street shooting in Wyoming’s capital on Thursday.
The shooting around 2 p.m. in a residential area near restaurants and offices occurred about a mile from the Capitol, Cheyenne Police Department spokeswoman Alexandra Farkas said.
Investigators were not yet sure what led to the shooting and who the victims were, or whether the injured were adults, Farkas said.
The shooting did not involve police, who declared the scene safe shortly afterward, Farkas said.
Safety measures were introduced but no lockdowns were imposed at two nearby primary schools. The state legislature continued to meet at the Capitol without interruption.
