Three people, including a young child, were killed when their car was shot at near a home in Birmingham, Alabama, on Saturday night.
Birmingham police said in a social media post that an investigation into a triple homicide was underway in the 3400 block of 27th Street North.
Police said officers responded to a report of a traffic accident at the scene of a shooting at around 5:20 p.m. WBRC-TV reported.
A man, a woman and a small child in the car all suffered gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel, WBRC reported.
According to WBRC, the car that was parked in front of a home had numerous bullet holes in it.
Birmingham police did not immediately respond to an email from The Associated Press requesting additional information.
