Shohei Ohtani wreaking havoc is hardly a new concept in the MLB, but on Saturday night he took new measures by smashing a light bulb at Citi Field.

In the first inning, Ohtani hit a foul ball down the right field line, knocking out a light in a Coor’s Light sign.

The Japanese scored two hits, two runs and two stolen bases on Saturday-evening for the visiting Los Angeles Angels, who quickly raced into a big lead and held on for a 5-3 victory over the New York Mets.

The Angels have won the first two games of the three-game series. The Mets have dropped four straight and five out of six.

Ohtani doubled in the first inning and scored on Brandon Drury’s RBI-single. Ohtani scored an RBI triple during a four-run second when he scored on Drury’s double.

The two-way superstar, who will not throw again this season after tearing the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow during his start against the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday, walked and stole second and third in the fourth. He flew out in the seventh and was walked intentionally in the ninth.

Los Angeles Angels general manager Perry Minasian told reporters Saturday that Shohei Ohtani refused to undergo imaging tests after experiencing spasms in his pitching hand and fingers during an Aug. 3 start against the Seattle Mariners.

Ohtani and his representatives have not commented since Wednesday’s injury. Ohtani left after 1 1/3 innings and 26 pitches in the appearance against the Cincinnati Reds.

The 29-year-old from Japan is considering whether to undergo Tommy John surgery.

Complicating matters is that Ohtani will become a free agent after this season.

Despite the serious injury, Ohtani is still the Angels’ designated hitter.
