Shocking stat signals worrying decline in Travis Kelce’s Chiefs form amid his latest retirement hint
Travis Kelce’s gridiron production this season has not lived up to the high standards the future Hall of Fame tight end has created for himself, with a shocking drop in one statistic that tells his current story.
Kelce is the only player in the NFL with 75 receptions or more and an average of less than 10 yards per catch.
The 35-year-old Kansas City Chief isn’t even close to that threshold with 8.4 yards per catch.
It’s Kelce’s first season as a Chiefs starting tight end where he hasn’t accomplished that mark, with Taylor Swift’s pal usually averaging between 12 and 13 yards per catch.
Kelce’s decline wasn’t a one-season decline, with his total yards per catch dropping to 10.6 last year.
His yards per catch total isn’t the only glaring decline for Kelce this season, with just two touchdown receptions this season, a surprising number for a man whose career high in a season is 12, set in 2022.

Kelce has hinted at his retirement more than once recently, with his celebrity profile reaching an all-time high.
With Swift, he mostly traveled the world for her “Eras Tour,” attending shows in Singapore, Amsterdam, Argentina and more. Kelce even appeared on stage with Swift at a show in London.
Kelce’s podcast “New Heights,” which he hosts with older brother Jason Kelce, who himself retired from the NFL in March, reportedly signed a $100 million deal with Amazon’s Wondery.
Kelce was also the host of the Prime Video game show ‘Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity?’ where he rubbed elbows with other stars like Nikki Glaser and Sophia Stallone.
The three-time Super Bowl champions still have three regular season games to turn things around.
Kelce is also known for being at his best during the playoffs, which didn’t plummet last year despite a downer in the regular season.
Despite a dip in the stats for Kelce personally, the Chiefs are still 13-1, losing only on the road to the Bills, who have won 11 games themselves this season. Kelce would likely trade any personal gain for a fourth championship.
