Shocking photos show the catastrophic damage to a regional Victoria home after it was rammed by a truck, tragically killing its two elderly residents.

Emergency services were called to reports a truck had left the road and crashed into a house on the Princes Highway, in Tower Hill, near Warrnambool, just after 7am on Friday.

An 81-year-old man and 82-year-old woman who were in the front bedroom of the home died at the scene.

The 70-year-old male driver and sole occupant of the truck was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It is understood the truck, believed to be traveling from Port Fairy to Warrnambool, was unloaded.

The impact caused shards of glass and debris to spread across the garden

Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit are on scene and the investigation is ongoing.

An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said paramedics were called to the scene at around 7.05am to reports of an incident in Tower Hill.

“One person was transported by ambulance to Warrnambool (Base) Hospital,” she said.

Police officers are allowing trucks and heavy vehicles through the highway, while all other traffic is being diverted via Gormans Road.
