Shocking footage shows the moment a scrap metal worker was run over twice by an angry customer after the company refused to accept his trailer full of scrap metal.
Shane Matherson, 52, ran over Craig Hatchard outside Denron Metals, a scrapyard in the western Adelaide suburb of Thebarton, in March 2021.
The 52-year-old was brought before a South Australian court on Monday and was sentenced to three years and one month in prison for endangering his life.
The horrific incident occurred after a heated clash between Matherson and the scrapyard workers.
Matherson arrived at the company with a trailer full of scrap metal, but was turned away after being told the yard was about to close for the day.
A disgruntled Matherson parked his van across the street from the exit, preventing other customers from leaving the yard.
Mr. Hatchard approached Matherson and asked him to move his van from the yard exit.
Matherson told the court during the trial that he became “panicked and upset” when workers swarmed his van, causing him to drive away and mow down Hatchard.

CCTV footage, obtained by 7News after a court filing, showed Matherson turning this vehicle around and driving towards Hatchard at a high rate of speed.
Matherson crashed into Hatchard a second time as he lay injured in the road from the first collision.
Hatchard was taken to hospital after suffering injuries to his ribs, shoulder and legs.
The court heard that Hatchard had had nightmares since the incident and had become withdrawn and moody.

He added that he was disappointed with the judge for suspending Matherson’s sentence after the court learned of his deteriorating health and cancer diagnosis.
‘When I hit the ground I was completely dazed. I had to suffer from the injuries and that, why can’t he do that?'” Hatchard said outside the courtroom.
