Caught in the act! Watch as a woman snatches an entire plant from a neighbor’s front yard and walks away with it
This is the shocking moment when a woman decided to snatch and steal a large plant from her neighbor’s front yard – roots and all.
Post on the social media forum Reddita disgruntled plant owner in Brazil shared CCTV footage of a neighbor stealing a flowering shrub in front of his home.
Shared on the subreddit ‘mildly annoying’user @jhoujhou96 wrote, “She could have just asked, and we’d be happy to give her a stem cut!”
In the video, the camera is pointed at the walkway in front of the plant owner’s compound, capturing the entire scene.
A woman dressed in gray sweatpants and a matching T-shirt sneaks up to the pretty pink flower and looks around to make sure no one is watching.

After a few moments she bent down and began to pull the plant out by the roots, being careful to grab the whole thing
She then cheekily bends over and pulls up the rather large plant, shaking off the excess soil and quickly walking out of sight.
Under the video, the user provided some information about the situation, writing, “This wasn’t the first time this happened, but eventually caught it on camera.
‘It had been sitting indoors in a vase for 2 years as we were concerned this would happen again but it started to get stuck at the roots so we moved it to our driveway 2 weeks ago.
“Then come this morning and this happens… This was in southern Brazil.”
The post, which has been updated more than 75,000 times, has attracted a lot of attention from other people.
Many couldn’t believe that people could be so deplorable.
One person wrote, “In Puerto Rico, my grandfather used to put chains and barbed wire on newly planted palms and other plants because people would steal them.”
A second shocked follower asked, “WTF is wrong with people? Constantly disappointed with the depths to which humanity will descend.’
She continues to shake the dirt off the plant with her back to the camera, leaving an empty hole in the dirt where the hole once was
“I didn’t expect her to just take the whole plant…wtf lol…” a third person stated.
“If I saw a plant I loved, I would try to find the name of the plant and get my own,” another Reddit user added.
And someone else wrote, ‘I’ve had a few people knock on my door asking for cuttings.
‘It always makes me happy when someone likes my plants enough to ask for one.’
A fifth shared their own story of plant theft, writing, “Years ago I had someone cut off every single flower in my garden to use for a wedding. Had to get the police involved.
“Another time maybe 12 or 13 knocked on my door and offered me a crumpled dollar bill for one of my roses. It was for his mother’s birthday. I told him to keep his money, went in and got a vase and we cut her roses, lilies and snapdragons for a nice bouquet.
‘We gardeners are more generous than we think. Just ask.’
Later in the comments, the original poster provided an update on the situation and revealed that the plant thief had been identified.
They wrote, “We managed to get this broadcast on our local news station today. The relatives of this person recognized the person and contacted us.
“They talk to the person and try to get him back.”
