Shocking moment: Panda attacks female zookeeper, pins her to the ground and bites her after locking her in her cage
This is the shocking moment a panda attacks a female zookeeper after locking her in her cage at a Chinese zoo.
The panda, named Ding Ding, can be seen chasing the keeper, then grabbing her and biting her.
The footage, recorded at the Chongqing Zoo in the eponymous city in southwestern China, was taken on September 19, just after 9 a.m.
First, the caretaker is seen trying to get out of the enclosure, but the panda throws his weight behind the door, forcing her to run back inside.
The panda then runs after the zookeeper, who tries to keep the animal at a distance by placing her hands on its shoulders.

But the panda shoots forward, eventually sweeping her off her feet and jumping on top of her.
The panda appears to bite the terrified caretaker on the arm as she tries to push him away.
Finally, she managed to run to the door while the panda was distracted.
The attack shocked the visitors of the zoo. During the attack, screams were heard.
The Chongqing Zoo has since promised to take safety measures to prevent a similar incident from happening again.
Built in 1953, the park covers an area of 111 hectares and is home to a variety of animals including giant pandas, red pandas, the South China tiger and white tigers.

A zoo spokesman said the keeper’s condition was not serious, but declined to provide further details.
And at the time of writing, the panda, named Ding Ding, was still on public display in his enclosure.
Ding Ding is a female panda born on August 30, 2015 in Chongqing Zoo, with pedigree number 982.
