A group of Chicago teens who staged a car robbery at a Range Rover dealership and made off with vehicles are being hunted by police officers.

Nine teenagers committed the robbery at a Jaguar-Land Rover dealership in Waukesha and were able to steal nine luxury cars on February 18, reportedly worth more than $500,000.

According to Waukesha Police Chief Dan Baumann, the suspects broke into the dealership around 6 a.m., found the keys and then activated the key fobs to find the cars, which they then stole.

CCTV footage from inside the dealership shows four of the youths, all dressed in black, including masks and head coverings, storming into the store.

“A stolen vehicle, a minivan, comes to the dealership. They opened the service door and nine subjects went there looking for keys.

“One person discovers where the keys were hidden and then starts distributing them to his friend,” Baumann said WISN12.

Officials said while eight of the vehicles belonged to the dealer, the ninth was a customer’s car.

Footage shows one of the thieves quickly driving a white car into a glass garage door.

Ultimately, the thieves are followed on a high-speed chase by police on Interstate 94.

One of the suspects, an unidentified 17-year-old boy, was arrested the same day in a town called Pleasant Prairie after the stolen vehicle he was riding in crashed on the highway during the chase.

He is being held in the Waukesha County Jail on a $50,000 bond and has been charged with burglary, theft and criminal damage to property.

So far, police have recovered six of the nine stolen vehicles: four in the city of Chicago, one in the Chicago suburb of Deerfield and one in Wisconsin.

Baumann believes the robbery was a strategic and most likely professional job. He went on to say, “We believe this is an organized crime group of teenagers from the Chicago area.

This wasn’t just a group of kids who decided to stay up late one night playing video games and said, “Hey, let’s see if the nine of us can travel two hours to commit crimes.”

“Because that doesn’t normally happen.”

Officials are still investigating the case and trying to identify the other eight suspects.
