Shocking moment migrants – and stray dogs – cross US-Mexico border through open border fence

  • Ten undocumented migrants and a dog were seen crossing the U.S.-Mexico border in a video posted to TikTok on Tuesday
  • The footage shows seven migrants running over a fence that was set up as American construction workers waited to erect a new metal barrier.
  • An eighth migrant joined the group before a stray dog came along

This is the shocking moment a group of migrants – and a stray dog – took advantage of border construction and crossed from Tijuana into San Diego.

Footage posted to TikTok on Tuesday shows construction workers on the U.S. side of the border reinstalling part of the steel barrier near Tijuana Beach.

It turned out that a fence that had previously been installed to replace the old fence had already been knocked to the ground when seven people ran over the fence as workers watched.

An eighth migrant could be seen running behind the group before a stray dog joined the sprint toward the American dream.

A viral TikTok video posted Monday showed at least 10 migrants and a dog running through an open section of a steel border barrier under construction at the Tijuana-San Diego border.

Moments later, two more people ran across the sand and through a section of barrier on the San Diego side of the border that had been left open by workers.

“That dog will achieve the American dream and end up in a nice warm home,” one TikToker wrote.

One user on the popular social media platform chimed in: “The dog said, okay, we’re all in this together.”

Another declared: ‘That dog will have it better than any of us.’

DailyMail.com has contacted U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) for comment.

The incident at the border crossing comes as CBP, state and local law enforcement agencies in Texas have been dealing with an increase in the number of undocumented migrants from Mexico through the Rio Grande.

A two-month-old boy was found abandoned at the U.S.-Mexico border in Texas, U.S. Border Patrol Special Agent in Charge Gloria Chavez revealed on X on Tuesday.

An average of about 2,000 migrants have arrived in Eagle Pass, where the mayor last week declared a state of emergency as the crisis besieged the border city.

At least two migrants, including a three-year-old boy, drowned in the Rio Grande during separate but failed attempts to reach the United States.

Chief Patrol Agent Gloria Chavez, who oversees the U.S. Border Patrol’s Rio Grande Valley Sector, reported Tuesday that Border Patrol agents had discovered a two-month-old child abandoned along the border.

“This is a chilling reminder of how children are exploited every day by human traffickers and criminal organizations,” Chavez wrote on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

CBP’s latest monthly report shows that in August, 232,972 encounters were reported with migrants crossing the border unlawfully. A total of 2,206,039 bans were recorded in fiscal year 2023, which runs from October 2022 to September 2023.

The current fiscal year will surpass the bans the border agency documented in fiscal year 2022, when 2,378,944 were reported after 1,734,686 were recorded in fiscal year 2021. CBP saw only 458,088 bans in fiscal year 2020.
