A homeowner in California took it upon himself to defend his vehicle and confronted a gang of burglars armed with a baseball bat just as they broke into a van parked on the street.
The Los Angeles resident was seen on surveillance footage from his home racing between the electric gates that protect him well in North Hollywood to disrupt the robbers who broke into the van parked right in front of his home.
The suspects’ vehicle stops next to a van just after midnight on Monday morning.
In the video, you then see two people get out and approach the driver’s side window.

The man runs to stop the thieves as they steal tools and equipment from the van parked on the street
At the top left of the screen you can see how the man lunges at the thief’s own vehicle and manages to land a few blows.
They smash the window, which sets off the alarm and alerts the homeowner inside.
The man is then seen wearing sandals as he runs into the street with his bat.
He manages to land a few blows on the suspects’ car, who quickly get back into their own vehicle.
But the man is undeterred and takes a swing, appearing to smash the suspects’ rear window before they speed away.
Video from inside the van shows a range of equipment and tools, including a few ladders.

‘I heard the alarm go off and I ran outside.’ the victim said KTL. “(There were) two people…who came around the corner, backed up, then smashed the side of the window and then destroyed the front of the car.”
Los Angeles Police Department investigators say the car involved in the burglaries may be a black Honda or Infiniti.
No descriptions are available of the two suspects behind the crimes.
