Shocking moment ‘homicidal and suicidal’ man kills his girlfriend’s 7-month-old baby

Recently released footage has shown the moment a man killed his girlfriend’s seven-month-old girl after allegedly kidnapping her and driving his car into a home in Ohio.

Johnathon J Baker, 23, of North Baltimore, Ohio, allegedly took the child while armed with a gun. Soon after, he contacted the girl’s mother and told her that he was feeling homicidal and suicidal and said he killed the child.

Police dashboard and bodycam footage now reveal the moments before Baker accelerated in his yellow Camaro during a police chase and it crashed into the side of a house, killing the baby inside.

The alleged kidnapper is still in critical condition in hospital and police have launched a murder investigation.

At about 3:43 p.m., the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the kidnapping by Wood County deputies and told them that the kidnapper in the Camaro was heading their way.

Tiffin police said an off-duty officer located the man in the yellow Camaro and radioed the information to the emergency room.

Baker’s car was followed by police for several minutes before suddenly “erratically” jerking to the left and going off the road.

He crossed the lane with oncoming traffic and rammed the car into the side of a house on S. Sandusky Street at high speed.

Footage shows the car flying over a small bump before crashing into the terrain. No one was home during the ordeal.

Several police officers and a civilian immediately rushed to the mutilated car and attempted to open the passenger-side door. Airbags deployed during the crash.

The baby was removed from the vehicle through the rear window and life-saving protocols were administered as she was bleeding from her head and was breathing labored.

She was rushed to hospital, where she died.

It took emergency responders an hour and a half to remove 23-year-old Baker from his vehicle.

Law enforcement did not confirm whether Baker was related to the child.

Chief David W. Pauly said in a statement: “The incident began yesterday, June 27, 2023, in the city of North Baltimore, Ohio, as a dispute between the child’s mother (name withheld) and her boyfriend, 23-year-old – old Johnathon J. Baker. Baker took the 7-month-old child and left in his vehicle.
