Shocking moment family of dine and dashers almost run over waiter after abandoning $400 check
A family missed out on a $428 check before nearly running over their waiter in a “dine and dash” scam.
The party of ten scored the bill at La Camaronera in Miami on Friday.
Surveillance footage shows them fleeing through the parking lot as a woman pushed a baby in a stroller.
As they were getting into their SUV, their waiter came running out to tell them they hadn’t paid.
But as he got closer, the vehicle nearly accelerated him and struck him into oncoming traffic passing on nearby Flagler Street.
“You see him pulling away and the driver pulling away on Flagler and my employee had to jump off, endangering his life,” said restaurant owner David Garcia. WSVN.
“Absolutely, they saw him, they wouldn’t have left this parking lot so quickly.”

Garcia said another family member who was not at the meal returned Monday to pay the check after shaming the scammers on social media.
“No restaurant should have to go through what we went through that day and what my employee went through. That employee of mine had a baby three days earlier,” he added.
However, he said he has decided to be merciful to the customers and has decided not to press charges since the check was cleared.
But he added that he won’t hesitate to expose anyone else who is considering pulling off a similar stunt.
“If anyone thinks about it, they’ll get caught,” Garcia said.
Fellow Florida restaurateur Ken Brackins revealed last year how he started publicly shaming dine and dashers.
He explained that since he started sharing images of suspects on social media, he has managed to get the incidents under control.
Since its implementation, Brackins said he has caught nearly a dozen dine and dashers who have ultimately paid their bills.

Garcia chose not to press charges as a gesture of goodwill, but warned others against a similar stunt
“We shared about 10 dine and dash posts. Nine out of 10 have resulted in the perpetrators coming in and paying their bills,” Brackins told Dailymail.com.
“But I would say 100% of those who come back and pay don’t tip.
‘And they also want to request a payment by credit card. But I let them in. They always seem to have an excuse as to why they forgot to pay.”
