Shocking moment when elderly female driver loses control of Lexus and takes off before hitting Arizona saloon, terrifying people inside

  • The elderly woman, who has not yet been identified, reportedly lost control of her vehicle and plowed through several local businesses
  • Surveillance footage shows the Lexus bursting into a lobby, narrowly missing a man sitting on a couch near the front desk
  • No one was seriously injured in the crash, but several businesses have been forced to close and don’t know when they can reopen

An elderly woman in Arizona rammed her car through the windows of a saloon in a shocking moment caught on camera — terrifying those inside.

Surveillance footage shows the woman’s gold Lexus jumping the parking lot curb and driving straight through the windshield of Beastly Beauty Waxing before coming to a stop at the front desk.

Separate videos from some business owners of the building in Chandler show stunned employees and customers reacting to the accident around 1 p.m. Saturday, in which the female driver suffered minor leg injuries.

Ashley Upton, owner of Aurum Men’s Salon, one of the companies in the development, said if she had stood one foot to the left she would have been hit.

“I really think I had an angel by my side today because if it had been one more foot to the left I could have been seriously injured,” she said.

“Other people could have been seriously injured. I’m just so thankful that everything turned out the way it did and no one was seriously hurt.”

Upton was cutting a customer’s hair just before 1 p.m. Saturday when the wall in front of her collapsed from the impact of the car.

Her security camera showed her and her client’s stunned reaction after the crash, before they began to regain their composure and try to figure out what had happened.

A third security camera angle showed a man sitting in the lobby of one of the businesses in the Belle Vie Salon Studios when the car crashed into the window, missing him by just feet due to his position on the bench.

Local investigators say the woman lost control while driving in the parking lot. They do not believe disability played a role in the crash.

The woman’s car, which was a total loss, was eventually towed away, along with a black car belonging to Mario Cardona, which was hit by the rogue Lexus.

‘You can’t worry about it. You can’t get out of shape. You just have to deal with it. I couldn’t have done anything to change it. I just pulled out of the parking lot. She hit me,” Cardona said Arizona family.

“It was a very bad crash. It was very loud. There were about six people who immediately walked out,” he added.

Upton told the outlet she is relieved no one was seriously injured, including the driver.

However, several tenants had to close for the weekend and are not sure when they will be able to reopen to customers.

According to the outlet, it is also unclear whether the owner or the driver’s insurance company will pay for the repairs needed at the companies.

Both Upton and the owner of the Beastly beauty washroom have launched GoFundMe Pages in their coming time of financial uncertainty.
