AFL great Eddie Betts has shared a horrific racist attack outside his family home.

The video, posted to Carlton and Crows’ former Instagram page, shows a white car approaching the Betts’ home before someone in the vehicle shouts the N-word four times.

A second camera angle shows Betts’ children and their friends playing basketball within earshot of the shocking comments.

The native footy icon has been left angered by the incident.

“Aboriginal children deserve to play safely, free from racism and abuse across the fence,” he posted.

‘We’re not even safe in our own home. If you know who this is, please let me know I’m open to a conversation about how much this is hurting our children.”

The football world bypassed Betts and condemned the vile behavior. Melbourne star Christian Petracca added: ‘Disgusting!!! I’m thinking of you and the family.’

Liam Ryan of the West Coast Eagles said: ‘That’s my brother.’

Carlton’s Marc Murphy branded the racist ‘weak as p*** scum’.

A slew of other messages of support for Betts came from the likes of Shayn Burgoyne, Steven May, Kysaiah Pickett and Bradley Hill.

Betts is a leading voice on pro-Indigenous rights, but fears it will be difficult to eradicate racism.

‘They don’t like Aboriginal people standing up for what they believe in and trying to eradicate racism. It feels like they want to put us back in our boxes where they think we belong,” Betts said.

“Everyone has to do their part and keep talking and keep educating and keep having those conversations.

“Look at (Adam Goodes). He called out racism and it kept happening to him, and people jumped in, even thinking they didn’t know what was going on.

‘It’s disappointing to see. We just have to keep learning.

“We see change, but it will always happen.”
