This is the horrific moment a couple and their teenage sons are killed after their car plunges off a bridge into a lake below.

Veysel Aydogmus, 37, was driving the white car with his wife Emine Aydogmus, 35, and their sons Batuhan, 16, and Mete, 13, as the family headed for a picnic in Turkey.

But in a tragic turn of events, the car veered off the road in heavy traffic on a two-way bridge over the Seyhan Dam Lake in Adana.

CCTV footage shows the family car driving slowly between other vehicles on July 21, just before the tragic accident.

As a line of cars tries to pass a slow-moving car, we see Veysel accelerate as well, but he drives straight into the path of a car that is passing him from behind.

When he saw the car, he panicked and tried to drive back, eventually losing control of the vehicle.

After his car zigzagged uncontrollably for a while, he swerved to the right and crashed into a guardrail on the side of the bridge.

Local media reported that Veysel, a restaurant manager, Emine and their two teenage sons died in the crash.

After shocked bystanders raised the alarm, several fire brigade, police and underwater teams were sent to the scene.

According to a Turkish newspaper Kozan ExpressAfter a four-hour search, the lifeless bodies of Emine, Veysel and Mete were found after they had been pulled from the car.

Batuhan was later found after it emerged that he had jumped out of the car during the accident but had sunk further into the lake as he could not swim.

The car was lifted back onto the bridge by crane as family members flocked to the scene after hearing the tragic news.

The Aydogmus family was later buried together in the village of Kizillar in the Kozan district of Adana.

Mete, 13, was the first of the sons to be recovered after the crash, as he was found inside the sunken vehicle

According to local reports, Batuhan was later found trying to jump out of the vehicle during the accident, but he could not swim.

The family car was recovered from Seyhan Dam Lake in Adana after a four-hour rescue mission

Kemal Aydogmus, Veysel’s cousin, later blamed the bridge’s poor safety barriers for the fatalities.

He said: ‘The biggest problem we noticed later was that the barriers were in a neglected state.

‘They were held together at the bottom with rusty nuts, reinforced with welding and then painted over.

We want these issues resolved as quickly as possible.

“Our loved ones have died. We don’t want anyone else to suffer.”

According to local media, police and security experts are investigating the accident.
