Shocking moment American Airlines cabin floods while flying from Dallas to Minneapolis

A stunning video showed the aisle of an American Airlines plane flooding as stunned passengers watched the trail of water push towards the front of the airline.

Hilary Stewart Blazevic was aboard the wetter-than-normal plane on Dec. 7 for a trip from Dallas to Minneapolis.

Blazevic captured the video showing water coming from the rear bathroom of the plane.

She sent the video to Storyful and said a woman used that bathroom before notifying flight crews of the leak. The video showed a flight attendant unsuccessfully holding back the flooding water.

“It was complete disbelief and a bit of panic when I realized they couldn’t turn off the water,” Blazevic said.

She said she and her fellow passengers had to pick up their belongings as well as their feet from the floor to avoid touching the “disgusting” water.

DailyMail.com contacted American Airlines for comment. The company has not yet commented on the incident.

The video first went viral on TikTok, where it now has over 7.2 million views and over 61,000 likes.

The video then pans to the source of the flood, the bathroom

The account that posted the video used Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” as the background music and joked that the film was on board Titanic.

Nearly 1,700 people flooded the comments to express their horror or shed light on the nightmare scenario at cruising altitude.

One of the most common responses was simply asking who was clogging the toilet, as the leak was coming from the rear bathroom.

One person wrote: ‘Another reason to wear closed toe shoes and not flip flops and crocs.’

Another said: ‘Imagine drowning…on a plane…in the sky.’

A third wrote: ‘Drowning at 30,000 feet at 500 miles per hour lol, new terror unlocked lol.’

The most recent controversy facing American Airlines involved a doctor who gave up her business class seats to help a sick passenger who was experiencing a medical emergency.

Dr. Erin Nance, known on TikTok as @littlemissdiagnosisshared her experience of volunteering to help an unwell passenger on the first leg of their flight to Italy, an overnight flight to London. This selfless act required her and her husband to sacrifice their first-class seats.

The incident happened an hour after her flight in June, when the crew declared a medical emergency.

A sick, elderly woman on board with her son fainted twice in twenty minutes. Dr. Nance offered them and her husband the Business Class seats so the woman could lie down comfortably.

This gesture prevented the flight from being diverted to Nova Scotia as the pilot had suggested.

Since she was giving up her expensive seats, Dr. Nance for a refund from American Airlines, which was initially denied.

Speaking to DailyMail.com, Dr. Nance that while she would like to vacate her seat again to ensure someone’s safety, it was reasonable to expect a refund for the expensive tickets.

‘Doctors are altruistic by nature and are always ready to help those in need. While we do not seek recognition or reward, it is reasonable to expect gratitude from companies when we do our very best,” she said.

‘Over the years I have assisted countless passengers in medical need. It’s part of the job. I never asked for anything in return; in fact, I often don’t even mention it.

“In this case, I personally chose to sacrifice my comfort to ensure the safety and well-being of a fellow passenger. It’s a small gesture, but one that could have prevented major disruption to the entire flight.’

Weeks passed with no response to her formal complaint, prompting her to share her experience on TikTok, where the video went viral.

The attention forced American Airlines to respond, but its airline mileage offering fell short of its expectations.

The airline claimed that as the tickets were booked through British Airways, they could not issue a refund directly.

However, after continued public pressure and support from commentators, British Airways intervened and agreed to refund the difference in the cost of the seats. American Airlines also offered her and her husband extra points as compensation.

Dr. Nance was recently reimbursed $2,145.52 this month for the sacrificed seats, while American Airlines awarded her miles for her inflight assistance.
