Shocking moment a female airline passenger throws her drink at the flight attendant who refused to serve her any more drinks, then takes off her wig and gets into a fight with other travelers

This is the shocking moment a South African TV boss throws her drink at a flight attendant before removing her own wig and fighting with other passengers.

Phone footage from the FlySafair flight from Durban to Cape Town on Boxing Day shows the passenger angrily arguing with the flight attendant as he sits back in a window seat.

As the attendant approaches the TV executive in plastic handcuffs and tells her to “listen to me,” the passenger is seen yelling back before grabbing the ties and throwing them over the seat.

But the mid-air collision soon began to spiral when a traveler sitting behind the unruly passenger reached forward to try to help the flight attendant restrain her.

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) brand manager shuffles around in her seat and tells the pair ‘you can’t do this’ before launching her drink in the flight attendant’s face.

Sounds of shock and disbelief echo through the plane and the clip cuts to the moment the passenger rises from her seat and pushes another flight attendant away, shouting, “Go away, go back.”

The pushing evolves into a chaotic flight, involving several passengers trying to push the television executive back into her seat.

Two male passengers finally manage to grab her wrists as the flight attendant struggles to fasten the seat belts to her.

But the FlySafair employee emerges in vain as the TV manager gets back up from her seat and shouts, “Who are you?” for the passengers sitting behind her.

Then, in a bizarre twist, the angry airman rips off her blonde wig as she continues her dramatic tirade from her seat.

A man sitting next to her can be heard telling the passengers behind them not to touch her anymore, while also repeatedly demanding the woman to “calm down.”

Her tirade finally seems to come to an end when she sits back down in her seat after handing the seat belts back to the flight attendant, but she gives one last fiery snarl to the employee before sitting back down.

Chaos reportedly broke out when the flight crew refused to serve the passenger any more alcohol.

According to News24a South African news website, the passenger was arrested and charged with disruptive and riotous behavior on board the flight.

She was handed over to police when the plane landed in Cape Town.

But speaking to the news channel, the passenger denied that she was under the influence of alcohol when she boarded the flight, stating that she and her boyfriend were traveling to Cape Town on New Year’s Eve.

“We checked in and then decided to go to the slow lounge, and in the slow lounge we had a quick meal and had one drink, which was the whiskey,” she said.

“We (realized) we were late, and then we boarded the plane. When we got on the plane, I wasn’t drunk, I was sober as a judge.”

She claims the altercation started when cabin crew came by to offer refreshments.

According to the passenger, she asked the flight attendant what cool drinks they had, but when the employee said she didn’t have two choices, the flyer stated that the crew member was “getting annoyed with me.”

The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) says it has received a full report from the airline that will be used for further investigation, according to South African newspaper The Daily Voice.

SACAA aviation director Poppy Khoza condemned the incident, saying passengers who assault, threaten, intimidate or obstruct cabin crew members are in breach of the Civil Aviation Act and, if found guilty, could face a prison sentence of up to six months.

Local media have reported that the passenger now plans to sue the airline.

After the incident, FlySafair spokesperson Kirby Gorden said: ‘We condemn any behavior of this nature.

‘Flight attendants have a primary role as safety officers and interfering with their duties is a criminal offence.

“This passenger will be placed on our no-fly list and will not be welcome on future FlySafair flights.”
