Shocking reason why people are glad this dashcam owner’s car was in an accident at Wallsend near Newcastle

A dashcam owner’s footage of their accident at an intersection has left viewers of the video happy the collision happened.

The footage, uploaded to Facebook by Dash Cam Owners Australia, showed a red light runner colliding with another vehicle in Wallsend, west of Newcastle.

But the seemingly strange reaction from those who watched the video quickly became apparent.

In the vision, the owner of the dashcam drives into the intersection, but is hit by the other car coming from the right just before 5:30 PM on Sunday.

To the left of the collision, two schoolchildren can be seen crossing the road on bicycles.

Those who commented on the video were convinced that the car that caused the impact would have ultimately hit the children if the collision had not occurred.

Dashcam footage captured a collision at a busy intersection and some viewers of the video were happy it had happened

Many said they were “happy” about the accident and said the alternative could have been devastating.

‘Thank God they hit you and not the cyclists! You are an accidental hero,” one woman wrote.

‘Right place right time. You sure saved those kids,” said another.

‘Wow!! That could have ended badly,” a third person commented.

Many social media users have said they were ‘glad’ the dashcam owner’s car had been in an accident

Some were scathing, saying the driver should ‘get off the road’, while others hypothesized what could have happened just before the crash.

“They were probably concentrating on their phones,” one person said.

“What was so important that you couldn’t wait for the green light,” asked another.

“The red light runner must be permanently removed from the road,” says a third person.
