Shocked customer at Texas Roadhouse ‘never been so disappointed’ after finding unwelcome surprise with her meal

A woman enjoying a meal at one of her favorite restaurants in Midland, Texas, was shocked to discover a disturbing surprise that came with her food.

Kimberly Rios, a former waitress, went viral after she posted video on TikTok about her reaction to the disgusting discovery.

At first, the unwanted ingredient could barely be seen as Rios, her friend and a small child stared at their menus.

“In all the years I have been going to Texas Roadhouse in Midland, Texas, I have never been so disappointed,” Rios wrote in the video description.

Nearly a minute into the April 9 video, a crawling cockroach suddenly appears on screen, making Rios disappointed with Texas Roadhouse.

Rios and her restaurant guests appeared to be enjoying the meal before any of them spotted the cockroach.

However, they all stopped eating and started looking for the insect after one of the guests found the cockroach while eating.

The unidentified female restaurant guest claimed the cockroach “was on the menu.”

“It’s in the menu, I’m telling you,” the other female guest told Rios.

Rios then moved the menu holder from the table before the other woman saw the cockroach move.

The TikToker then handed her phone to her female companion, who got footage of the small cockroach quickly crawling over the edge of the table.

She then handed the phone back to Rios, who moved the food and hinted that she would take action regarding the cockroach situation.

Following the video’s rise in popularity, Rios confirmed in the comments section that she killed the cockroach after stopping the video, and while she “could have acted foolishly,” she chose not to.

‘What were we supposed to do? Monster screaming with the baby, and acting Ghetto like some would? I don’t do that,” Rios wrote in the comments section on April 13.

‘We take the cleanliness of our restaurants very seriously and make this a top priority at every location. In fact, our Midland, Texas location has a long history of exemplary health scores,” a Texas Roadhouse representative shared. Daily dot.

“Additionally, after this video was posted, the local health department made two visits to our store in April and found no evidence of pests whatsoever.”

The rep also confirmed that the local health department went to the restaurant twice after the video was posted and found “zero evidence” of pests.

“We would have liked the guests to have brought this to someone’s attention at the time, so that we could have addressed this personally,” the representative said.

“Our waiter even saw them filming at the table and asked if there was a problem, but the guest said no.”

Rios’ video is one of many TikToks that users have posted to the social media platform over the past two years.

Rashida Hameed posted a TikTok video in November 2023 from her birthday dinner at Texas Roadhouse in El Cajon, California, ruined by a cockroach.

The cockroach wasn’t as big as the one in Rios’ video, but it quickly crawled across the table.

Hameed and the other restaurant guests she was sitting with panicked and one of them shushed someone in the background.

One of the other restaurant guests claimed they were going to get the manager, but according to Hameed, the employee told them that someone from pest control was coming to the restaurant two days before the birthday dinner.

‘I feel really sick now. I can’t take it anymore after tonight. This is absolutely incredible,” Hameed wrote in the comments section of the video.

Cockroaches are considered a health code violation and can determine the grade a restaurant receives during officials’ inspections.

According to EcolabCockroaches can cause a restaurant to be shut down by health inspectors and spread diseases such as E. coli, salmonella or dysentery.

Cockroaches are nocturnal insects that usually prefer to live and breed together in dark places near food and moisture.

The insects come out of hiding when hungry and can move across floors and rubbish and even crawl over furniture used for food preparation and associated equipment.
