Shocking shake-up at Dancing With The Stars as the beloved judge quits and their surprise replacement is revealed

Dancing with the Stars will look a little different this year as one of the show’s most beloved judges has stepped down.

Longtime star Helen Richey has left the series after her husband Robert had health problems that left her wanting to spend more time with her family.

“Since the show started in 2004, I’ve loved being a part of Dancing With The Stars,” the 78-year-old said. The Herald Sun this weekend.

“I am extremely disappointed not to be able to participate this season, but family comes first,” she continued.

‘Robert and I watch from home and wish all participants good luck with their turn on the dance floor.’

Helen is replaced by Sharna Burgess, who is a dancer in the American version of the show.

Sharna, 37, is an Australian ballroom star and is married to American actor Brian Austin Green, 49, best known for starring in the 1990s teen drama Beverly Hills, 90210.

Judges Mark Wilson and Todd McKenney are back this year, along with Burgess and British choreographer Craig Revel Horwood, who replaced Paul Mercurio after the actor left the show to pursue his political ambitions.

Channel Seven announced the star-studded cast for the new season of Dancing with the Stars this month.

On Thursday, the network revealed that Sonia Kruger and Daryl Somers will both return as hosts and the show will air later this year.

The upcoming series will feature an all-new celebrity lineup, including The Bachelor’s Laura Byrne and former MasterChef star Matt Preston.

They join former football legend Gavin Wanganeen, Olympians Sally Pearson and James Magnussen, and respected actors Mary Coustas and Pia Miranda.

Virginia Gay and Christie Whelan Browne are also competing for the coveted mirrorball trophy.

Just like Phil Burton from Human Nature, Paulini from Australian Idol and Emily Weir from Home and Away.

Rounding out the lineup are Charlie Albone of Better Homes and Gardens and Issa Schultz, Supernerd of The Chase Australia.

The upcoming season will have an exciting format, dividing the celebrities into two groups.

They will perform every other night throughout the season and the standings are determined by a combination of the judges’ scores and the votes of the studio audience.

This season promises exciting performances and unprecedented competition.

Kym Johnson, who previously appeared as a judge between 2013 and 2015, is tipped to return to the series and has been spotted in and out of encounters with Seven.
