Channel 10 has axed reality TV competition series The Traitors after just two seasons.
The show’s first season premiere drew a miserable metro audience of just 257,000, while viewers were left baffled by the rules and strange atmosphere.
Despite the layoff numbers, the network renewed the show for another season, but it also failed to attract a large audience.
The network now appears to have axed the series, as The Traitors was not announced as one of the shows returning to Ten during Tuesday’s 2024 Upfronts.

Just For Laughs Australia, Pilot Showcase and North Shore have also been cancelled.
Meanwhile, the network was expected to launch its new reality show Tough As Nails Australia.
But it looks like the gritty TV series won’t be appearing on Ten until 2024.
It comes after Channel 10 suffered the worst year in its ratings history as viewers abandoned its once flagship programs in droves.
Industry blog website TV Blackbox reported Tuesday that this year the network endured the worst year ever in OzTam history since the ratings system began in 2001.

Viewers have gradually moved away from once-popular shows such as The Project, MasterChef Australia, The Masked Singer Australia and Gogglebox.
The bad news means the beleaguered network is now the fourth most popular channel in Australia, well behind Seven, Nine and ABC.
It is struggling at both national and metropolitan levels and currently has a commercial share of 21.2% nationally, behind Seven’s double lead of 42.1% and Nine’s 37%.
An insider told TV Blackbox that part of the problem is that the network continually struggles to retain viewers.

‘Ten has no returning fans. If so, why do The Project, MasterChef, HYBPA, Gogglebox, The Masked Singer and many more lag behind year after year?
“They have no sport, the Melbourne Cup is gone. They can’t launch a new show – most recent example: Shark Tank,” they said.
However, a spokesperson for Ten refuted claims that the network was struggling and revealed that they would soon be launching new reality shows that would appeal to key demographics.
“We have even more content and with Dessert Masters and The Bachelors launching soon, we’ll continue to play key younger demos,” they said.
