Shia LaBeouf, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Giancarlo Esposito get in character as they film Megalopolis
Shia LaBeouf, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Giancarlo Esposito immersed themselves in their characters while filming Megalopolis in Atlanta, Georgia, on Saturday.
The trio were spotted filming a St. Patty’s Day Parade scene as they worked to bring director Francis Ford Coppola’s passion project to life.
LaBeouf, 36, wore a unique look featuring a leather jacket over a black button-up and military boots. Emmanuel, 34, was a bright vision in a vivid red coat and dress.
Breaking Bad star Giancarlo, 64, looked cool as ever in a black fedora and a stylish black suit with caped sleeves.
Meanwhile actor Jack Black, 53 – who was coincidentally staying at a nearby hotel – hilariously snuck on set and hid with the extras during filming, before surprising Giancarlo.

He sported a wacky outfit that included gold suspenders and sheer stockings with Grecian prints.
The star-studded cast of the movie also includes Adam Driver, Forest Whitaker, Laurence Fishburne, James Remar, Jon Voight, Aubrey Plaza, Jason Schwartzman, Talia Shire, Dustin Hoffman, and more.
Director Francis Ford Coppola has been working on this story for more than 40 years, since the early 1980s.
The filmmaker even revealed in the 1990s that he did studio movies like Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Jack and The Rainmaker to get out of debt and raise funding for Megalopolis.
He had shot over 30 hours of B-roll footage in and around New York City, but he had to scrap that footage after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, with Coppola abandoning the project in 2007.

His magnum opus? The filmmaker revealed in the 1990s that he did studio movies like Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Jack and The Rainmaker to get out of debt and raise funding for Megalopolis
He revealed in 2019 that he was resuming development on the project, which follows an architect who plans a new vision for New York City after a huge disaster.
The legendary filmmaker told Scenario magazine that his idea was inspired by ‘a very famous and very mysterious incident in Roman history from the Republic, not the Empire, called the Catiline Conspiracy.’
Catiline was a tempestuous Roman politician who became infamous for his failed attempt to overthrow the consuls at the head of the republic.
‘I’ve taken the characters of the Catiline Conspiracy and set them in modern New York,’ said Coppola. ‘So, in many ways, what it’s really about is metaphor – because if you walk around New York and look around, you could make Rome there.’
In an interview with GQ, he also revealed that he had sold a portion of his wine business (Francis Ford Coppola Winery) in order to help finance the production. ‘I know that Megalopolis, the more personal I make it, and the more like a dream in me that I do it, the harder it will be to finance.’
‘And the longer it will earn money because people will be spending the next 50 years trying to think: What’s really in Megalopolis? What is he saying? My God, what does that mean when that happens?’
Production started at Trilith Studios in Atlanta on November 1, with filming reportedly set to wrap in March 2023.
It isn’t clear if the project has a distribution deal or a studio home at this time, or when the film will be released.
