Olympic swimming talent Susie O’Neill was back in her natural habitat on Wednesday, enjoying a day in the sun at a local pool.
The 51-year-old was completely in her element and made a splash at the Yeronga Park Memorial Swimming Pool in Brisbane’s riverside suburb of Yaronga.
Despite recently announcing her shock resignation from her Nova breakfast radio show, Susie was all smiles as she enjoyed a sunny day by the pool in Brisbane.
But Susie wasn’t there to work on her tan, but to compete against some lucky Ash, Luttsy and Susie listeners in the Nova show’s Swim With Susie promotion.
Looking every inch an Olympic champion, Susie showed off her fit figure in a black and white patterned Speedo bikini.
The swimsuit showed off Susie’s perfectly shaped arms and toned pins.
While Susie’s spirit of competition may still be strong, she wasn’t afraid to have some fun.
After donning a yellow swim cap and goggles, Susie proved she was keen to make a splash by performing a bomb dive into the pool.

But it was soon time for the big race and Susie looked businesslike as she took to the blocks.
She looked focused as she dove off the blocks at the start of the race, her back muscles preparing to break the surface of the water.
The eight-time Olympic medalist was nicknamed Madame Butterfly during her career, thanks to her formidable control of the swimming stroke.

And Susie proved that she has not lost that innate talent of cutting through the water skillfully and effortlessly.
In the end, Susie’s pool skills proved too much for her competitors and she finished the race with top honors.
Clearly delighted with her performance, Susie grinned from ear to ear and looked up at the sky, taking in her victory.
However, the good sport did find the time to applaud the efforts of its competitor.
Obviously happy with the win, Susie beamed widely when she was presented with a colorful bouquet of flowers.
She quickly struck the ‘champion’ pose as she proudly held up her booty.

Susie’s win comes after she broke down in tears as she announced her shock resignation from her Brisbane Nova breakfast show last month.
The Olympic swimmer turned presenter tearfully told her Ash, Luttsy & Susie listeners that she would be stepping down immediately after ten years in the role.
‘I do this with a heavy heart, the decision was not an easy one. It’s hard for me to put into words exactly why I’m leaving,” Susie began.

‘When I turned fifty last year, I realized that I am in a completely new phase of my life. In the next chapter, I will pursue other goals, both professionally and personally.”
Susie added that she already had some ideas about what the future held for her and assured listeners that they would get a chance to say goodbye to her as she would remain on air for another six weeks.
‘I want to get back to the basics of the sport and involve myself in the wider community. “It will be an emotional last day, saying goodbye to everyone,” she said.
“Whatever this next chapter brings, my Nova family won’t be far away.”
She then praised her co-host Ash and Luttsy for being so encouraging over the years.
Co-host David ‘Luttsy’ Lutteral was quick to pay tribute to Susie, saying: ‘It’s been an incredible adventure becoming great friends with you. I can’t wait to see your next chapter.’
Susie presents her final show on Friday, November 28.
