Sheridan Smith stuns in glamorous black dress with sweeping fishtail and plunging neckline at the Variety Club Showbusiness Awards after her musical Opening Night’s cancellation
Sheridan Smith looked sensational as she stepped out for the Variety Club Showbusiness Awards at the Londoner Hotel in the British capital on Sunday.
The actress, 42, whose musical Opening Night was recently canceled two months earlier, dressed in a glamorous black dress as she posed in the venue.
Sheridan played the lead role of alcoholic actress Myrtle in the West End show, which was hit by criticism from critics and spectators.
Critics complained that they walked out halfway through the “boring show” and admitted that even Sheridan’s star power couldn’t save the production.
Despite the award being cancelled, Sheridan was beaming as she attended the awards this weekend.

Sheridan will be honored with the 2024 Variety Club Silver Heart Award for outstanding contribution as an actress and singer at the event, particularly recognized for her performance in Shirley Valentine.
Her glamorous floor-length black dress had a fishtail train that trailed across the floor as she posed confidently with her hand on her hip.
The garment had satin lapels and a plunging neckline and hugged her hourglass figure perfectly.
She flashed a winning smile and wore a pair of glitzy silver streamer earrings for the evening.
The producers of the London musical starring Sheridan have canceled the production’s run amid what they called a “challenging financial landscape.”
Opening Night, based on the 1970s film of the same name about an actress in mental turmoil, was due to take place in the West End until July 27.
Producers Wessex Grove, Gavin Kalin Productions and Playful Productions announced on Thursday that it would end on May 18 at the Gielgud Theater.
Wessex Grove said it was an ‘honor to produce this wonderful new musical’ and thanked director Ivo Van Hove and Rufus Wainwright, who wrote the music and lyrics, and actress Smith.

The Variety Club Showbusiness Awards celebrated 75 years of Variety at The Londoner Hotel on Sunday.
Announcing the news that the Opening Night sequence would be cut short, the production team said the play “may not have had the life we hoped for.”
Amanda Holden took to the stage to host the glamorous evening and raise money for the children’s charity.
The Britain’s Got Talent judge also presented last year’s star-studded event, which was held at the London Hilton in Park Lane.
It comes after Amanda proved she is committed to her work when she was faced with a nightmare during her commute earlier this month after being locked down in her Spanish villa.
The radio star tried to leave the villa in the early hours to go to a studio to connect with her Heart Breakfast show in Britain, but ran into trouble when she arrived at the gate.
Amanda shared a video of the hilarious morning on Instagram, telling her followers: ‘I’m trying to do Heart from Spain but I’m locked in the building!’
Pointing to an outbuilding, she exclaimed “we found some ladders” before the video showed the star, coffee in hand, climbing over the tall fence.
Opening Night now concludes on Saturday May 18 at the Gielgud Theater in London, two months earlier than originally planned on July 27
Joking that she “spoke fluent Spanish,” Amanda also tried to communicate what was going on with the driver waiting for her on the other side of the fence.
“So this happened…just trying to get started,” Amanda captioned the hilarious video, which was set to the music of The Great Escape theme.
Amanda is flying between Britain and Spain, where she is filming the third series of her property makeover show with Alan Carr.
Amanda & Alan’s Spanish Job sees the pair move into a dilapidated, dilapidated estate in the province of Andalusia.
