Shemar Moore Opens Up About Alicia Keys Rejection After He Asked Her Out

Shemar Moore recalls being turned down by Alicia Keys after he asked her out on a date during an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show… days after becoming a new father.

Shemar Moore recalled being rejected by Alicia Keys during Thursday’s episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show.

The 52-year-old actor reminisced with Hudson about his interaction with the 42-year-old singer during his tenure as host of Soul Train earlier this century.

The SWAT star’s appearance on the show came just one day after he shared the first photo of his newborn daughter, Frankie, who was born on Tuesday.

Moore and Hudson began by talking about his time hosting Soul Train, which he headlined from 1999 to 2003, noting that he met many artists while working on the show, including Keys.

He then told the show’s host, 41, that he had tried to ask the singer out, much to the surprise of both her and the audience.

Moore stated that their meeting took place “when she was first exploding” as a performer and that he was impressed by her piano playing skills during the Soul Train Music Awards.

According to him, he and one of his friends attended one of Keys’ listening parties, during which he was encouraged to ask her out on a date.

Moore added that Keys’ aunt was right there, laughing and making fun of me.

His response was: ‘Look at this, son. I respect your flirting game, but my man situation is handled.

Moore was deflated, saying he “left so uncool” after the rejection before immediately telling his friend that he wanted to leave the party.

The artist then predicted that “Frankie will grow up to be a KILLA!”
