Shedeur Sanders’ trash-talking exchange with rival quarterback caught on hot mic as Colorado QB refused to shake his hand
This year we saw a repeat of the Rocky Mountain Showdown, which drew as much attention as last year’s Colorado vs. Colorado State matchup.
There was still a lot of trash talking going on between the two teams, which caused quite a stir in the run-up to the game in Fort Collins.
Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders heard that Colorado State had something to say and reminded his opponents of it after they beat the Rams 28-9 last weekend.
During a preseason interview, Colorado State quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi took aim at Sanders and the media hype surrounding Colorado, essentially saying that their popularity doesn’t matter when the game starts.
But Sanders remembered those words and after the game ended, the Colorado Buffaloes quarterback refused to play nice.

Sanders and Colorado easily defeated the rival Rams 28-9 in the Rocky Mountain Showdown
After being defeated, Fowler-Nicolosi reached out to shake Sanders’ hand, but the Buffaloes quarterback ignored him and returned the favor with foul language.
âOkay, you’re the same nigga that’s on Instagram talking nonsense, you’re on Instagram talking nonsense, but we got our act together,â Sanders said, denying the handshake.
âOkay, keep talking,â Fowler-Nicolosi replied.
âYou can’t mess with me, you can’t mess with me,â Sanders said as a defeated Fowler-Nicolosi walked away.
It’s not the most sporting way to end the match, but it is a rivalry after all and the tension has been running higher than ever in recent seasons.
Last year, Colorado State coach Jay Norvell took a swipe at Colorado coach Deion Sanders, saying his mother taught him to take off his hat and sunglasses when he spoke to someone. He was, of course, taking a swipe at the Colorado coach.
Colorado responded by defeating the Rams in a double-overtime game that drew national attention despite the late game time.
The coaches shook hands in midfield after the match, tensely. Although there still seems to be disagreement between the two, they have stressed that they have respect for each other.
