She is the next big thing in Australia’s TV world… but do YOU recognise this brunette presenter as she heads to the gym in her activewear?

Channel Seven has signed a new TV star to co-present the 7News bulletin alongside its regular presenter, in a major change to the presentation.

She is a guest on the channel’s daily news bulletin at 6pm, alongside veteran presenter Mark Ferguson. The duo made their on-screen debut on Monday.

Just days after accepting the role, she appeared to be in high spirits as she was spotted out for a morning stroll in her workout gear in Sydney on Wednesday.

The presenter, who has worked with Seven for around 25 years, looked sporty as she hit the gym in Bondi with a friend.

She looked casual in a black long-sleeved T-shirt and tight pants, which she teamed with a pair of white sneakers.

The journalist added a touch of color by tying a red raincoat around her waist and kept her essentials in a black backpack.

She went makeup-free for the understated outing, carrying her phone and headphones in one hand during her active morning in the sun.

She was smiling broadly and seemed to look happy. But can you guess who it is?

That’s right, it’s Angela Cox! She made her primetime TV debut on 7News alongside Ferguson, 58, on Monday night.

Ferguson has been presenting the 7News Sydney bulletin for ten years and will now co-present the program with Cox, a big change.

It is the first time Ferguson has teamed up with a co-presenter, as the seasoned star has long been known to host the show on his own.

The change of presenter comes amid a series of job cuts at Channel Seven as the network seeks to cut costs in a tough advertising market.

The network recently shocked fans by abruptly axing long-serving host Sharyn Ghidella, while Robert Ovadia, Andrew Frampton and Cameron Baud also left.

This is not the first time Cox has been a guest on 7News. In July, she stood in for Ferguson and hosted the 6pm bulletin while he was on leave for the Olympics.

Her solo debut sparked rumours that Seven’s new bosses were looking to replace regular presenter Ferguson, but their debut as co-presenter threw a spanner in the works.

Insiders had previously reported that Seven bosses were impressed with Cox when she temporarily took over the program from Ferguson.

‘Everyone thought it would be Angela and Michael together. But people are really impressed with Ange on her own – she’s a bit of an outsider,’ claimed one.

‘Angela is doing incredibly well in focus groups, so the bosses at all the networks will be watching this closely and doing their own research.’

Cox officially confirmed her new role at 7News last week, posting an official photo of herself and Mark on Instagram, along with a glowing caption.

She wrote: ‘Breaking news just in… I’m thrilled to let you know that @mark_fergo and I will be sharing editorial control in an exciting new era for @7newssyd.

‘Fergo has won so many loyal viewers with his warmth, integrity and humility, and has led our team at the desk for over a decade. I am honoured to now sit alongside him as we continue to strive to be Sydney’s best news service.

“We have an incredible team of award-winning reporters, producers and production staff who work hard every day to deliver world-class coverage of the news that matters most to our viewers.

‘The way Australians consume news is changing, and so are we. Thanks to all our viewers who have been so kind and supportive as I have been flying solo over the last few weeks.

“I hope you’ll tune in when Fergo and I launch next Sunday. Let’s do this.”

Ferguson said he was “really looking forward” to working with Cox and described it as a “fresh start” for him, having never had a co-presenter on the bulletin before.

“Ange will bring so much extra to the bulletin every night; more experience, more energy and it will allow us to be more versatile when big stories come out,” he said.

‘In a way it’s a fresh start for me, I’ve never really co-hosted before, so I hope Ange can teach this older dog some new tricks. She’s a talented journalist, a great presenter and an even greater person.’

Cox is no newcomer to Seven. She is best known for co-presenting the 6pm 7News bulletin with Michael Usher at the weekend, a role she has held since 2014.

She also worked as a US correspondent for Seven, was head of the daily news programme The Latest and had a role on the former current affairs programme Sunday Night.

During her 25 years at the network, Cox has reported on some of the world’s biggest events, including the wedding of the Prince and Princess of Wales and the Olympic Games.

While working in the United States, she covered five Academy Awards, the Golden Globes, Grammys and Emmys before deciding to move back to Australia.

Cox has been passionate about reporting since childhood and studied journalism in Queensland with the hope of working for fashion magazines.

However, she then met a contact who worked in television and convinced him to give her work experience. This was the beginning of her long-standing television career.

She interned during the week for three months and worked part-time on the weekends to make ends meet, after which she went to work at Seven.

“The best journalism is about sharing people’s stories and getting people to trust you so you can share their stories. It’s not about ego,” she said of her career.
