BREAKING NEWS: NBA Legend Shawn Kemp Arrested in Connection to Alleged Drive-by Shooting in Tacoma
Six-time NBA All-Star Shawn Kemp is being held in the Pierce County Jail in connection with a drive-by shooting near the Tacoma Mall in Washington.
The 53-year-old Seattle SuperSonics legend was booked by police at 5:58 p.m. Wednesday, just hours after he was involved in an altercation between two cars near a shopping center.
A police report revealed that the altercation led to gunshots in a parking lot in the 4500 block of South Steele Street, near the Courtesy Tire store.
Police said no one was injured in the shooting, but Kemp, initially identified as a 53-year-old man and later named in the report, was being held at the scene.
The incident occurred just before 2 p.m. and a weapon was recovered in the parking lot. As of Wednesday night, Kemp was still being held at the county jail.

Kemp is a legendary six-time NBA All-Star and played for the Seattle Supersonics for eight years.
Kemp was previously arrested in 2005 in Shoreline on a drug possession investigation, where he and another man were found with a small amount of cocaine, 60 grams of marijuana and a semi-automatic handgun.
A year later, he was arrested for misdemeanor possession of marijuana in Texas.
Kemp was selected in the first round of the 1989 NBA Draft by the Seattle SuperSonics, which became the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2008.
He played for the team for nine years and was an NBA All-Star for the last five.
In 1997, he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he played for three seasons and earned a sixth All-Star honor.
Late in his career, he played for the Portland Trail Blazers and Orlando Magic, where he retired in 2003.
