Sacked Channel 7 star issues brutal message to former bosses as she prepares to hit the air on rival network

Sacked Channel 7 newsreader Sharyn Ghidella has sent her boss one final message, days before she returns to Australian television.
The respected journalist was fired from Channel 7 in Brisbane after 17 years.
But now she says she is ‘coming home’ and will return to rival Network 10 from Monday as presenter of the ‘new’ Queensland program 10 News First.
Ghidella was a guest on The Project, where she gave a final message to her former employer.
“Don’t call me at the hairdresser’s… this wasn’t the cut I expected,” she joked.
‘Seriously, I mean, look, there are good people working at Channel 7, I had a good time there… It was good until it ended.’
The 57-year-old was fired from Seven after 17 years while getting her hair done for a promotional shoot, sending shockwaves through Queensland households.
The newsreader said she is excited to be back at Network Ten and bringing local news to Brisbane.

The newsreader said it was a great opportunity and she was returning home, telling the show she started her career on Ten in 1990.
‘In 1990 I started in Ten in Brisbane, her was quite big. Shoulder pads were even bigger,’ Ghidella said.
Martin White, Head of Broadcast News at Paramount Australia and New Zealand, welcomed Ghidella back to Ten in a LinkedIn post earlier this month.
“This is a great day for 10 in Queensland. We are passionate believers in local journalism and giving our audiences the best possible content – which is a perfect fit for Sharyn, Brisbane’s number one newsreader,” White said.
‘We are extremely happy to welcome her back to 10 and can’t wait to get started.’
Ghidella will replace another much-loved Queenslander, Sandra Sully, who has presented the Queensland bulletin from Sydney for the past few years.
She was suddenly fired by Channel 7 a few weeks ago due to large-scale staff layoffs
Ghidella, who has worked in journalism for 38 years, announced in a statement on Facebook on July 12 that she had been asked to leave Seven Network.
The mother of two has built an extensive media career over the past four decades, including stints at Channel 10 before joining Seven as a weekend presenter in 2007.
“When you’ve been in television as long as I have, not a day goes by without expecting the proverbial tap on the shoulder… After 38 years, it’s finally here,” she said.
‘It wasn’t quite how I expected it to turn out at Channel 7.
‘I was at work at the hairdresser’s when I got the call that my time with the network was over, after 17 years.
“And while I am somewhat saddened by this decision, there is also a sense of relief. As has been widely reported, the last few weeks on TV have unfortunately been a miserable affair.”
