Sharon Stone is being sued by a woman for thousands of dollars for an alleged car accident she caused in Los Angeles last year.

The actress, best known for her role as Catherine Tramell in the 1992 film Basic Instincts, is accused of causing a car crash that injured Amanda Godepski.

Godepski filed a motor vehicle complaint in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday, April 24, according to documents obtained by People magazine.

She accused Stone of driving at a high rate of speed and making “unsafe” car maneuvers that caused her to crash.

The woman claimed that she suffered property damage and personal injuries, and that the damages exceeded $35,000.

According to court records, the incident allegedly occurred on June 30, 2023 in Los Angeles, near the US Route 101 highway exit at Coldwater Canyon Avenue.

According to Gosepksi, Stone was “negligently owning, operating, operating, managing and maintaining a vehicle.”

The filing goes on to say, “Defendant Sharon Vonne Stone caused the collision by driving too fast for traffic conditions, making an unsafe turn into Plaintiff’s lane, and crashing into Plaintiff’s vehicle.”

Stone’s conduct violated at least three California vehicle laws, including driving too fast for traffic, making dangerous turns and changing lanes, court documents show.

In summary, the Los Angeles woman is suing Stone for “loss of wages,” “damage to property,” “general damages,” and “loss of earning capacity.” She also claims her visit to the hospital caused her “emotional distress,” “economic harm” and “non-economic harm.”

Stone has not yet responded to the lawsuit.

This isn’t the first time Stone has gotten into legal trouble.

In 2012, Stone was sued by her former nanny for allegedly violating labor laws and making derogatory comments about her ethnicity.

Erlinda Elemen was fired by the star in February 2011, after Stone reportedly discovered that she had been unfairly paid overtime, and Elemen claims that Sharon made a number of disparaging comments about Filipinos, including calling them “stupid people.”

They reached a settlement in 2013.

Stone, a mother of three, has taken a step back from Hollywood in recent years and has instead turned her attention to her art, which has been exhibited in galleries across the country.
