Shannon Sharpe praised Kevin Durant’s assessment of Draymond Green’s fallout before suggesting that the relationship between Green and teammate Jordan Poole is beyond repair.
Not only will it affect the once-tight duo, but Sharpe believes it will irreparably break the Golden State locker room.
The undisputed star’s comments come after Kevin Durant dispelled the myth that incidents like the Green sucker punch often happen within NBA walls.
Shannon Sharpe believes there is no return of the Green Punch for all concerned
“I’ve heard people say that happens a lot in the NBA. I’d never seen anything like it,” Durant told reporters in Milwaukee on Thursday.
Sharpe was eager to repeat Durant’s perspective after spending 14 years in NFL locker rooms.
‘Thank you KD! People want to make it look like people in locker rooms are hitting each other all the time… guys don’t go around hitting guys,” Sharpe told co-analyst Skip Bayless on FS1’s Undisputed on Friday.
“It’s a different ball game when guys hit each other, believe me. That relationship cannot be repaired.’
Kevin Durant was previously a teammate of Green and was known to have friction with No. 23
Although Sharpe was unfamiliar with the insides of an NBA locker room, Sharpe played in the NFL with the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens between 1990-2003, before returning to Mile High to finish his Hall of Fame career.
“I know what Draymond is saying… but that relationship will never be the same,” Sharpe continued. “The dynamics of that dressing room will not be the same.
“I’ve been in locker rooms where guys… [are] fight and it’s not the same…because you know why? You have to choose. You roll with him or you roll with him. Ain’t neutral, isn’t Switzerland, it’s that simple… Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying.
The Warriors Are Looking For Consecutive NBA Titles Despite Huge Controversy
“Something of this magnitude, man, if they can fix this, I have to say Steph is one of the top five leaders in NBA history.”
Green was not suspended for hitting Poole during a recent Warriors training session, but was fined.
He is expected to get ready for the Warriors in their final preseason game on Friday night, before taking on the Lakers in the defending champion’s regular season opener on Tuesday.
