Shannen Doherty’s friend SLAMS her ex-husband Kurt Iswarienko for lack of ‘humanity’ – as Charmed star settled divorce ONE DAY before her death at 53
A friend of Shannen Doherty has criticised the actress’s ex-husband, Kurt Iswarienko, for his lack of “humanity”.
Tara Furiani, a business consultant, shared a post on LinkedIn on Sunday criticizing the photographer after it was revealed that Doherty had agreed to finalize her divorce from him just one day before her tragic death at the age of 53.
‘I am really sad and upset about the death of my friend Shannen“…Because of the divorce she was going through at the time,” Tara wrote.
“She had stage 4 breast cancer that had spread to different parts of her body. Death was inevitable and she knew that… she was at peace with it,” she continued.
“But her pain and suffering in the months before that wouldn’t have been so profound if her husband had just been a decent human being. He could have just shown a little humanity to his dying wife.”

‘Life is so hard… life is extra hard with cancer and without the support you thought you would get.’
“If you have the chance to be a decent person, take it. You have no idea what people are dealing with and going through…”
She added: ‘Oh, and ladies… please get screened. We shouldn’t lose any more people to this. Early detection is key.’
According to multiple reports, the Charmed star filed to waive spousal support on July 12. Doherty died the following day after battling breast cancer.
In addition, Doherty agreed to a “default or uncontested dissolution” of the marriage.
The move signals that Doherty and her ex have finalized their divorce without court intervention.
“The parties have entered into a written agreement regarding their property and their marital or civil partnership rights, including alimony, the original of which has been or is being filed with the court,” according to the documents obtained by People.
The documents were then signed by Iswarienko on July 13.
“Her pain and suffering in the months leading up to it need not have been so profound if her husband had just been a decent human being. Could have just shown a little humanity to his dying wife,” she wrote

The sun also reported that Doherty waived her right to spousal support. “I knowingly and willingly forever waive any right to receive spousal support,” she wrote in court documents obtained by the outlet.
According to The Sun, both Doherty and Iswarienko had asked the court to terminate alimony payments for both parties.
“I request the court to permanently terminate the spousal support for the plaintiff and defendant,” the document signed by the actress reads.

Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. Just two years later, the star revealed the cancer had returned (pictured: Doherty undergoing radiotherapy in March)
“It is simply not fair that Kurt is allowed to extend our divorce in the hopes that I will die before he has to pay me, while he continues to live his life and shirk his responsibilities to his dying wife of over 11 years,” the woman said in the filing.
Iswarienko’s attorney Katherine Heersema responded by stating that Shannen had been offered a settlement offer in October 2023, but that she had denied it.
Kurt is not ‘just waiting'[ing] that Shannen dies. ‘He wants the best for Shannen and he wants them both to be able to put this behind them and move on,’ she said.
Doherty responded by stating that she rejected the proposed settlements because they “sidestepped the issues of his original work created during his marriage” and “his earning capacity.”
Doherty died on July 13 at the age of 53. Her publicist, Leslie Sloane, confirmed the actor’s death on Sunday.
“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of battling the disease,” Sloane told People.
“The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones and her dog, Bowie. The family requests their privacy at this time so they may grieve in peace,” Sloane added.
Doherty, who played Brenda Walsh on the hit 1990s series, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015.
Shannen rose to fame in the 1990s on the hit series Beverly Hills, 90210, starring alongside Ian Ziering, Tori Spelling, Brian Austin Green, Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Gabrielle Carteris and Luke Perry
Just two years later, the Charmed star announced that the cancer had returned, after she went into remission.
She told Good Morning America at the time: ‘In a few days or a week, I’m going to be diagnosed with stage 4. So my cancer has come back and that’s why I’m here.’
“I don’t think I’ve processed it. It’s a bitter pill to swallow in many ways,” she said.
Last year, she announced her cancer had spread to her brain in an Instagram post showing her undergoing radiation therapy, later revealing it had also spread to her bones.
