Shannen Doherty is remembered by Beverly Hills, 90210 cast at 90s Con following her death at age 53
Shannen Doherty was honored this week at 90s Con by some of her former Beverly Hills, 90210 cast members.
The 53-year-old actress died on July 13 after battling cancer for several years. She rose to fame in the early 1990s when she played Brenda Walsh on the hit teen drama.
Brian Austin Green, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering and Gabrielle Carteris reunited on stage in Daytona Beach, Florida to pay tribute to the Charmed star.
Green, 51, said of his late girlfriend: ‘She is a great example to me for everyone [how] She put her own challenges and her own health aside and wanted to share her experience with everyone. That was incredibly brave.”
He added: “It’s brave to go through something so difficult and then be completely transparent about it and share it with everyone.”

Tori Spelling was originally scheduled to perform at the three-day event, but canceled her appearance just days before the event kicked off on September 13.
Carteris, 63, said that after her battle with cancer, Shannen became an inspiration to the people in her own life.
The star said: ‘I have a friend at the moment who is very ill, she has cancer, and she said Shannen really inspired her.
“I think her legacy really makes a difference for those who struggle with hope.”
Gabrielle shared with People at the time of Doherty’s death: ‘Shannen was young and so brave. By sharing her journey, she helped so many people.’
And online she wrote: “So young – so sad. May you rest in peace Shannen. I know Luke is there with open arms to love you,” referring to Beverly Hills, 90210 actor Luke Perry, who died in 2019 at the age of 52.
Garth, 52, took to social media in July to pay her respects to the former teen star, writing, “Our connection was real and honest. We were pitted against each other so many times, but none of it reflected the truth of our real relationship, which was built on mutual respect and admiration.”
Jason Priestley, 55, who played Brenda’s brother on the series, recently told DailyMail.com of the collective cast bond: ‘We all felt like family. We had fun at work and outside of work too.’

He said: ‘Shannen was a great kid. She obviously had some issues, like everyone else, and was very open about it.’
The Hollywood host added: “I’m grateful that I’ve been able to spend so much time with her, especially these last few years.”
“So when she passed, I felt like there was nothing left between us that was left unsaid. Shannen fought that cancer as long and as hard as she could and was able to keep her career and her life; she was impressive in the way that she fought.”
