Shania Twain talks about how she was sexually abused by her father
Shania Twain sported pink hair when she appeared on the today is the show in New York City on Thursday.
The You’re Still The One singer, 57, was promoting her upcoming album Queen Of Me.
On the show, Shania spoke to Hoda Kotb about how being fondled by her father as a child made her ashamed of her body. She is now trying to embrace her curves, which is why she posed nude for the album cover. “I’m my boss,” she said.

Abused: ‘It really comes down to saying that I was abused as a child. My father caressed me to the top and made me walk without a shirt and I was already maturing. This awful, horrible desire to escape from being in my own skin,” he said of his abusive past.
When asked what her album title meant to her, the That Don’t Impress Me Much singer said: “It means taking responsibility, ownership, of yourself.”
During the meeting, she also said that she chose nude photography for her album cover as a way to deal with the horrible things her father put her through as a child.
“It’s really about saying that I was abused as a child,” she said. “My father caressed me to the top and made me walk without a shirt and I was already maturing. This awful, horrible desire to escape being in my own skin.
To Queen: On the show, Shania sat down with Hoda Kotb and talked about her upcoming album Queen Of Me and how she grew up in a violent home that changed her life.
Real talk: When asked what her album title meant to her, the That Don’t Impress Me Much singer said, “It means taking responsibility, ownership, for yourself.”
She continued: “It’s time to start loving myself in my own skin and really embrace that and not be ashamed or ashamed of it.” This is what I am.
Twain also said: ‘I love who you are. I am my own royalty. I am my boss and I am responsible for the decisions I make, for what I say, for what I do. It’s a statement of self-confidence that I’ve become more of in recent years.
The five-time Grammy winner then went on to reflect on the idea of finding self-confidence at this stage of her life and how “it’s more essential than ever.”

“I did a whole shoot as part of the album art where I’m completely naked and it was really scary, but it was like, you know, I don’t really love my body.
‘I don’t love looking in the mirror with the lights on or looking in the mirror at all. So I said listen, I’m going to face that fear.
Shania explained that she wanted to “put fashion aside” so that she could be completely authentic.
New hair: Twain was a guest on the Today Show in New York and sported a new bright pink hairstyle
Her look: She was wearing a black leather coat that matched her black leather boots. The star also wore a black top and cream skirt.
The conversation then shifted to talking about how Shania grew up in a violent home in her documentary Not Just a Girl, which was released in July 2022.
The man! I feel like a woman! The singer grew up in a home where there was not always food or electricity. She lost her parents when she was 20 and then had to become a mother figure to her siblings.
The beauty spoke about how those hardships shaped her into who she is today, describing it as “like a double-edged sword.”

She said: ‘There are elements of that, of going through all those hardships that make you stronger. What you survive makes you stronger, but on the other hand you develop insecurities.’
Shania talked about how, as a songwriter, she writes and imagines the future and how she rarely reflects on the past in her songs.
She looked amazing in New York on her way to the show.
Over her clothes, she had on a long leather jacket that reached to her knees. She also had on a pair of high heeled leather boots.
The beauty accessorized with a small gold necklace, gold rings, large gold earrings and a red handbag.
