Top prosecutor in Bruce Lehrmann case is STOOD DOWN from his job after week’s brutal grilling at Brittany Higgins investigation

ACT Director of Public Prosecutions Shane Drumgold has been sacked as the investigation into the handling of a case against former Liberal staff member Bruce Lehrmann continues.
Mr Drumgold has come under pressure following questioning at the independent inquiry into how the ACT justice system handled rape allegations against Mr Lehrmann by another ex-Liberal staffer Brittany Higgins.
The ACT head of government has appointed Anthony Williamson, who was a DPP deputy, to act in the role of the area’s chief prosecutor until June 13.
ACT top prosecutor Shane Drumgold has been suspended until June 13
Mr Drumgold told the Sofronoff Inquiry last week that his team had ‘closed ranks’ against police because they believed the officers had lost objectivity in the case.
He has been DPP since January 2019 and has been with DPP since 2002.
The assault charge against Mr Lehrmann, who had denied the allegations, was dropped last year.
The investigation will continue next week and police are expected to take witness statements.
