Shakhtar Donetsk ‘set £88m price-tag on Arsenal and Man City target Mykhaylo Mudryk’

Shakhtar Donetsk has put a €100m (£87.75m) price tag on highly regarded wing forward Mykhaylo Mudryk to fend off growing transfer interest, reports said.

The winger is unstoppable for Shakhtar, who has shone both domestically and in the Champions League, and has quickly become one of Europe’s hottest young talents.

With a number of top clubs monitoring the 21-year-old’s situation, the club has revealed his lucrative price tag and insisted that ‘the market sets the price’.

According to The athleticShakhtar has told clubs they will have to shell out nearly £90 million if they want to secure the services of the acclaimed winger.

Shakhtar’s director of football, Dario Srna, said: ‘If someone wants to buy Mudryk, he has to pay huge, huge, huge money. Otherwise, the president of the club (Rinat Akhmetov) will not sell him.

‘The market determines the price, not me. Anthony, [Jack] Grealish, they are players over €100 million and for me Mudryk is no less quality than them.

These are the last two transfers of the past year, in more or less the same functions. [Jadon] Sancho of Borussia Dortmund. We just want respect.’

Premier League clubs Arsenal, Man City, Newcastle, Brentford and Everton have all followed his situation closely. French giant PSG has also been eyeing the wide man.

The general manager of the club, Sergei Palkin, reiterated the position of the Ukrainian club and insisted that the player will develop well above his current level.

Palkin said, “Mudryk is a talent in a process. What he shows today is only 60 percent of what he can do in the future.

“And when you multiply this, you realize it costs much, much more. That’s why I think it could certainly cost around 100 million euros in the future.’

The 21-year-old sparkles this year with 11 goals in 10 league games and five goals in his six Champions League matches.

However, some fans, especially Arsenal supporters, will be encouraged by recent statements from Mudryk describing his desire to play in the top tier of England one day.

To talk with CBSsaid Mudryk: ‘I think every player dreams of the Premier League.

‘It’s hard to say [which team he’d like to join] but Arsenal are a very good team, a very good coach, I like the way they play.’

When asked if he would like to move to the Emirates, he added: “For my part, I can’t say no. [to Arsenal]. But the transfer is not only my decision.’
