Shakira is reportedly planning to move to Miami within three weeks.
Last year, it was revealed that she would be moving out with her children Milan, 10, and Sasha, eight, after negotiating the move in a child custody agreement with Gerard Piqué.
Shakira’s desire to move to Miami, where she used to live and part of her family, is understood to have been the main sticking point in the former couple’s earlier failure to settle out of court.
He was expected to move to the United States at the end of the school year after postponing his original departure date to early January due to the failing health of his father, 91-year-old William Mubarak.
But speculation is growing that the Colombian singer-songwriter has now set her heart on a new date for April 1.
Family: Shakira is reportedly planning to move to Miami in three weeks with her children Milan, 10, and Sasha, eight, after negotiating the move in a child custody agreement with Gerard Piqué.
Laura Fa, one of two journalists who regularly report on the mother of two, told Catalan newspaper El Periódico: “What they tell us today is that she has a scheduled date to move there, which would be April 1.”
‘If everything goes well, she wants to go on that date.’
Colleague Lorena Vásquez added: ‘This is information that we are receiving from the closest circle of the former couple.
“The only obstacle would be the health of Shakira’s father and it is well documented that his health is a bit complicated at the moment.
“Shakira’s idea is to take advantage of Spring Break in the United States to be able to travel to Miami with her children so that they can start their classes when the children from there return to school.”
MailOnline has contacted Shakira’s representatives for comment.
Earlier this year it was revealed that Shakira had been forced to delay her move to the United States due to her father’s health.
It was revealed in early January: ‘She can’t make the trip to Miami right now.
Upset: He was expected to move to the state after pushing back his original departure date to early January due to the failing health of his 91-year-old father William Mubarak (pictured in 2013)
“His father’s state of health is very complicated and he could not cope with the flight if it was not on a medicalized plane. For the moment he is going to stay in Barcelona.
Shakira’s father was hospitalized in Barcelona last year after a fall.
He spent Christmas with his daughter in the Catalan capital after being discharged from the private Teknon Medical Center in November and placed under 24/7 professional home care.
Shakira and Gerard confirmed in November that they had signed a child custody agreement after a protracted negotiation that culminated in a marathon 12-hour meeting with their lawyers. They signed the agreement in a Barcelona court in December.
As part of the deal, the retired Barcelona defender, who is now dating 23-year-old Catalan beauty Clara Chia, will spend the holidays with their children.
Strong: Shakira said in her first TV interview last month since splitting with Gerard that she came out of their painful breakup “stronger” and now feels self-sufficient (pictured in 2019)
The couple, who separated in May after more than a decade together, said in their joint statement: “We want to communicate that we have signed an agreement that guarantees the well-being of our children and that it will be ratified in court as part of a mere procedure formal.
“Our only goal is to provide you with maximum security and protection, and we trust that your privacy will be respected.
“We appreciate the interest shown and hope that the children can continue with their lives with the necessary privacy in a safe and calm environment.”
Shakira said in her first television interview last month since splitting with Gerard that she emerged “stronger” from their painful breakup and now feels self-sufficient.
The artist said that she had previously bought the ‘story’ that a woman needs a man, but stated: ‘Now I feel complete because I depend on myself.’
And in an apparent new jab at Gerard’s new lover, whom she took aim at on her hit song with Argentine DJ Bizarrap released in January, she said: “There is a place in hell reserved for women who don’t support other women.”
She has written and performed several dissident songs since splitting with Gerard.
He compared himself to a Rolex and seemed to rate his ex’s new lover, Clara, like Casio in his song with Bizarrap last month.
He also sang: “I’m worth two 22” in a clear mockery of Clara, who was 22 years old when it is believed that she started dating Gerard compared to Shakira’s 44.
Moving on: Former Barcelona player Gerard, 36, split from Shakira in June 2022 after 11 years together and went Instagram official with Clara, 23, last month (pictured together)
Most recently, the singer shared a clip of her singing along to SZA’s hit song Kill Bill on Valentine’s Day while lip-syncing the lyrics “I might kill my ex.”
He had already appeared to attack his ex in a song he released last October called Monotonia, Monotony in English, with references to ‘narcissism’ and the ‘cold as Christmas’ attitude of a man he is breaking up with.
In the video for that song, a mystery man, according to fans, is a depiction of Gerard shooting a hole through Shakira’s heart as she stocks up on snacks during a late-night trip to the supermarket.
The Colombian went on to pen a New Year’s Instagram post about betrayal and heartbreak, gaining the support of Lionel Messi’s wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, who responded to his comment about her ex with three heart emojis.
