Nicole Kidman has commented on the devastating wildfires ravaging Hawaii.
The Australian-raised Honolulu-born actress expressed her heartbreak in an Instagram Story post on Sunday.
“I am shocked by the devastation in Hawaii and feel so deeply for the loss people are experiencing,” the 56-year-old wrote in text on a black background.
“I was born in Hawaii and I have so much love and connection to the island. My family and my mother share the care of everyone whose lives have been hurt and destroyed.” she continued.
Nicole said she and her family donated to charities that helped with the recovery, and encouraged her fans to do the same.

Born in Hawaii, Nicole was given the Hawaiian name Hokulani, meaning “celestial star,” and was inspired by the name of a baby elephant born at the Honolulu Zoo around the same time.
Her family moved to their Australian homeland when Nicole was four and settled in Sydney.
It comes after the death toll from the Hawaiian wildfires reached 80 after horrific inferno swept through the town of Lahaina, in Maui County.

The fires were fueled by a number of atmospheric elements – dry conditions, low humidity and wind gusts of 100 km/h caused by Hurricane Dora – a Category 4 hurricane.
The wind was so strong that power lines fell out and houses were damaged. CBS news reported.
The outlet reported that the U.S. Coast Guard rescued 17 people who jumped into Lahaina harbor as the fires overtook the city.
“There were no fire trucks at the time. I think the fire department was overwhelmed,” a business owner in Lahaina told CBS News.
Hawaii Governor Josh Green said it appears a “bomb” went off after about 1,700 buildings were destroyed by the fire.
