Shailene Woodley’s Showtime Series Three Women Dropped By Network Amid Paramount Reorganization +

The Three Women series, starring Shailene Woodley and Betty Gilpin, will no longer air on Showtime, despite being completed.

The network has opted to stop airing the series following a reorganization that will see it rebranded Paramount+ with Showtime for both the television channel and streaming service, according to Deadline Monday.

The show has since been shopped around other networks and streamers, and at least one offer has been made to take over the show.

The reorganization with Paramount+ has also led to the cancellation of two other Showtimes series, the vampire drama Let The Right One In and the reboot of American Gigolo starring Jon Bernthal.

Canceled Early: Three Women, starring Shailene Woodley and Betty Gilpin, will no longer air on Showtime, despite being completed, after the network announced it was changing its name to Paramount+ with Showtime, according to Deadline; Woodley view in April 2022

Both shows had only aired one season on the premium cable network.

Three Women was based on the 2019 nonfiction book of the same name by Lisa Taddeo, and is unrelated to Robert Altman’s classic film 3 Women (1977), starring Shelley Duvall and Sissy Spacek.

Woodley, 31, plays Gia, an understudy for the author who travels across the US to interview three women whose sexual and emotional lives have thrown them into turmoil.

Gilpin stars as Lina, a suburban Indiana housewife who upends her emotionally numb marriage by having an affair.

Despite releasing a trailer for the series, Showtime opted to drop it, leaving another entity a chance to pick it up.

He is also reportedly buying Let The Right One In and American Gigolo in the hope that another network will buy the properties.

The first two episodes had been directed by Louise Friedberg, who is also an executive producer.

Showtime appears to be following in the footsteps of Warner Bros. Discovery, which has canceled a number of new shows to cut costs for its streaming service HBO Max, as well as removing several pre-existing shows and movies from the streamer for tax deductions.

Deadline signals the future for other Showtimes series Ziwe and I Love That for You.

The first, a talk show starring comedian Ziwe Fumudoh as she attempts to make viral videos while grilling her guests, informally seeks out potential buyers, suggesting her future may not be secure.

I Love That for You stars former Saturday Night Live actress Vanessa Bayer as a home shopping show host who lies that her childhood cancer has returned to keep her job.
