Shailene Woodley, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Richard Madden star in Amazon thriller Killer Heat

Shailene Woodley has been cast alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Richard Madden to star in the upcoming Amazon thriller Killer Heat.

The project is based on the 2021 short story titled The Jealousy Man, written by Norwegian author Jo Nesbo, per deadline.

The film is directed by Philippe Lacôte, who has previously worked behind the camera for films such as Night Of The Kings (2020).

The exact roles that the Big Little Lies actress, 31, and the Game Of Thrones alum, 36, who recently joined Priyanka Chopra at the Citadel screening in Mumbai, will play are yet to be officially announced.

The 500 Days Of Summer actor, 42, will play the character of a detective and will also be one of the thriller’s executive producers.

The film’s premise is set to follow twin brothers who become entangled in a love triangle that turns violent on a Greek island, prompting a detective known as “The Jealousy Man” to investigate, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Production for the film will begin later this year in May in Crete, known as Greece’s largest island.

Further details about the project, including a firm release date, are yet to be revealed as the film is still in the pre-production stage.

Richard is no stranger to Amazon Studios and will soon appear alongside Priyanka Chopra in the upcoming drama, Citadel.

The premise of the sci-fi series, which was created by both Josh Applebaum and Bryan Oh, follows Citadel operatives whose memories have been “wiped out” and who must remember their past to fight against the “powerful syndicate, Manticore,” according to a IMDB synopsis.

The first season of the Amazon Prime Video show also stars Stanley Tucci and Ashleigh Cummings, and is scheduled to premiere later this month on the streaming site on April 28.

During a photocall and screening of Citadel during its Asia-Pacific launch in Mumbai, India on Monday, Madden said filming the series was “incredibly physically demanding,” reported Variety.

“But I think that’s what really attracted me to it. It’s not just a gun show or a fight scene. This is how these two characters interact physically and dance together.’
