Shadow the Hedgehog is now Venom

Sega’s new trailer for the Shadow side of Sonic X Shadow Generations shows off the gun-toting hedgehog’s new Doom Powers. These include Doom Spike, which allows Shadow to fire a quintet of flaming slime projectiles; Doom Wing, which allows Shadow to fly through the air; and Doom Surf, which summons a manta ray composed of black slime that Shadow can surf on. Doom Morph lets Shadow channel his inner squid child to glide and swing around with a bunch of tentacles.

Apparently, Shadow the Hedgehog’s arch-nemesis Black Doom is the ultimate threat in his Sonic X Shadow Generations story. But as Tuesday’s new trailer reveals, Shadow will Also Take on Metal Overlord in a battle — Metal Overlord is the final form of Metal Sonic, who can also transform into Metal Madness. The new Shadow trailer is packed with blaring metal guitar riffs.

Sonic X Shadow Generations comes out on October 25th, the same day we get another hefty dose of an edgy antihero possessed by a powerful dark slime. Venom: The Last Dance is in theaters on Friday, making the double bill the Barbenheimer of black goo. That day, we see Shadow the Hedgehog riding a black goo manta ray And Eddie Brock rides a black goo horse. What sticky serendipity!
